Emotional rollercoaster, help!

ShabaGuest ·
This is my first time joining a forum. My husband and I have been trying for two years now for our first baby (I'm 28 now).

After taking the pill for 10 years, I really had to spend a year detoxing from it. My cycle was all over the place. One month 27 days, then 34. I really had to get to know my body.

Now, everything has been stable for about a year. A cycle of 28 or sometimes 29 days.

I don't track my temperature anymore; I did at first, but my work schedule is way too chaotic. I don't always get enough sleep or wake up at the same time...

I still use my temp to see if ovulation has passed or to check if I should watch out for my period.

Even though it's been two years, every month is still a little different. Sometimes my breasts hurt from ovulation until a day or two before my period. Other times, barely a few days before nothing happens.

I'm having a really hard time processing yet another disappointment. I try to keep my mind off it as much as possible, but honestly, I can't really do it. In the week before my period, it plays a big role anyway.

I'm now 4 days away from probably getting my period again.

The last few months, the period has been harder when it comes. I can't handle the emotional rollercoaster anymore. It sometimes makes me genuinely unhappy. My friends are getting pregnant by accident or having a second child without any problems. I can barely smile when I hear such news.

So my question is, how do you all deal with this? With the emotions and the disappointment.

I just really want to be a mom, but I'm scared it might never happen or not naturally.

Thanks in advance for listening and responding.

Greetings,
Shaba

Have you already had a check-up at the hospital? I'm already on my third, but my first one also took a long time to come. The second one, and now this one too, but that's obviously different.

No, not yet. I'm not really brave enough. Did you get tested for your first check-ups? I'm a bit scared of the results. What if it's bad news.. On the other hand, I've read that it can sometimes take a long time. I just hope to get lucky. I find the disappointment really hard.

No, only now at the third one, but with me, nothing was found at all.

I’d really go to the gynecologist for some research. I understand you don’t want bad news, but the same goes for you: there’s a clear reason why you haven’t gotten pregnant yet. And maybe it can be treated well with medication. That’s preferable to months of hope and disappointment.

    Hi Shaba,
Like Lijn says, I’d also go for an investigation. I understand your disappointment every month. And then, as you say, it seems so easy for everyone else. You’re confronted with it daily.
After about 3 years of check-ups, it turned out that my partner’s sperm wasn’t good enough to conceive naturally. I wanted to do everything to become a mom. (Too long story ) and I realize every day again that becoming a mom isn’t self-evident.
But however scary it is and the fear of the results, this might well be the first step toward your dream. Even if it’s not in the way you had planned.
I hope, of course, that all this isn’t necessary and that you’ll get pregnant without all the fuss.
    Lots of love,
    Starz
