Babies, cats, and litter boxes...

Can the litter box be in the hallway?
Do you have a litter box with a high or low entry? With or without a hood?
There are also those mats you put in front of the litter box that keep the litter somewhat near the box. I have cats myself and such a mat and it works reasonably well.
What kind of litter do you use?
I have those wood pellets that fall apart and go in the green bin. I use them in combination with a litter box with a double bottom so that the fallen pellets with urine fall to the bottom. Then you have less trouble with smelly litter on the floor with a real scooper.
(I just use the ones from the supermarket but there is also a brand with finer wood pellets that works even better with that box, I thought it was Peewee.)

Thanks for your reply! And it's so sweet that you want to help think!

I have a Curver litter box with a grate in front and a cover over it, so luckily at least some gravel comes out here.
The other one is also a box with a lid and flap and a high entry. This one is currently in one of those leak trays for washing machines, so most of the gravel stays in there now haha.
I'll keep an eye out for such a mat, I don't know it yet. I've tried regular doormats before, but it was completely useless.

We use the clumping litter from Jumbo; other brands dust way too much.
We recently tried wood pellets hopefully, but they just really refuse to use them. I also don't dare to just wait until they finally start using it... they both have urinary tract problems and have both almost died from it here... they already have special food and even a fountain to drink from, but holding their pee can be fatal... so I don't know how else to handle this.

Yes, they are quite special creatures, besides bladder problems, they also have epilepsy and pica.... So they definitely don't go outside...

And unfortunately, we don't have a hallway, just a corridor that I think is a meter wide, there's really no room for a litter box there.

Yes, I'm really happy when we move hihi!

When I read this, you've indeed already tried just about everything that can be tried
I'm afraid moving to a house with more space is indeed the only option.
I'm so happy with my utility room, that's where my cat litter box is.
