Maite or Deze?

Hi everyone!
I'm pregnant with our second little one. Our son is named Stef and now we're having a girl. We're torn between the names Maite and Diese. Which one do you like best?
We pronounce Maite as Mai-tuh (like Maaike with a T, or Gaite with an M). Diese speaks for itself, I think.
Thanks in advance!

I'd go with other names. I can't make anything of this, sorry.

I thought they were boys' names.

Thanks for your honest response. Deze is a Zeelandic girl's name, Maite is a Basque girl's name (though I believe it's pronounced Mai-tee there). We're really choosing between these two names, but thanks for your honesty. It's helpful.

I like both of them. By the way, I actually pronounce Maite quite differently than Maaike; with Maite, I keep the 'ai' really short, and with Maaike, I really say 'ai'.

I think I like Maite more than Diese.

No need to think long about it: Diese

Go for it, but would you also pronounce it differently I'd go for Mai - tee

Oops.. I also thought it was a boy. Maite sounds nicer to me then.

    I know a 4-year-old Maite and she's sooo cute!

    So Maite!

    This is German for 'this'.

    I'd go for Maite!

I don't find that one so beautiful either.

I do like Maite, but then pronounced as Ma-i-tee. If you keep the pronunciation as in your first post, I'm afraid that name doesn't mean anything to me either.

    Good luck with the choice!

I actually think Diese is beautiful. Just because I like Zeelandic and Frisian names.
I do understand what people mean when they say it sounds like a boy's name, but I don't see it as a negative if a name isn't super clearly a boy's or girl's name.
