I like Charlotte, not so much Emmelie, and Emmelot either. But it's all about taste, right? You should choose what you find beautiful. Another combination of those two names is Charlie. I really think that's super cute for a girl.

Then I find the other combination, "Charlie", nicer.

Not my taste. BUT definitely not too fussy. It's immediately clear how to spell it, and I don't think it's a weird name. So go for it !

I think Charlotte sounds nice with your sons' names. Emily too.
Emmelie a bit less, but it's fine.
When I hear Emmelot, I think... what names are combined here. If I knew the child was called Emmelie-Charlotte, I'd immediately think they just stuck the names together.
I don't find it that beautiful myself, not really my style either, but you have to like it. If your daughter finds it annoying later on, she can always fall back on an official name.

Differences in taste... I do like the names Charlotte or Emilie. Emmelot, not so much, I find it too fussy. But that's just a matter of taste. Charlie, on the other hand, I think is super cute

I think Charlotte is a very beautiful, feminine, and timeless name.

It's your choice, you should do what feels right for you, but personally I think Charlotte is more beautiful, but too fussy, no, really.

Emmelot. Yeah, I think it's a bit too crafty in my opinion.

Just about the nickname. I personally think it's super cute. I have it slightly differently. My nickname is my second name. This causes some issues with important institutions. Then they call me by my first name and maiden name. That doesn't work very well when I'm always addressed by my second name and my married surname. I know several people who have this experience. Something to think about though.

I think you haven't found the right name yet if you're going to combine them.

Why not both names with a hyphen in between? We did that too. We had two names we liked. One a bit more than the other. Then combined with a hyphen in between and that was it.

    Emmely-Charlotte

Thanks everyone for your advice and new options. We'll take another look at them. Charlie and Charlize are indeed also nice and lovely. But do you think Charlie/Charley/Charly would fit with Benjamin and Julius?
  10. madelene #11

I never really thought about whether my kids' names would go well together later on; they'll each go their own way anyway.
But personally, I'd go with Charlotte and as a middle name, Emmely.

I'm pregnant with my first baby now, but I definitely won't look for a name that matches. As long as you don't go with Sam and Sem, it's fine. They're two separate little people

I think double names are really beautiful! If it were a girl here, the name Ella-Marie would definitely be in the running :-)
  13. Anne #14

Both names are nice, but Emmelot is a bit less appealing. The names together work, but it's quite long. I know someone who has this and she's already starting to shorten it herself. When I talk to her or message her, I usually just ask for the little girl by her nickname. You're putting others through that with such a long name haha, but all the names above aren't too weird. The tip above is really good, pay attention to the nickname and first name. I have a completely different first name and find it hopeless. With my daughter, I was really keen on the nickname being the first name, and with my son, I paid extra attention too. Charlie isn't really my thing, but it's a nice name overall. Charlotte is the prettiest

Emmelot, the first association is, oddly enough, Lancelot (knight of the round table... think Richard Gere ;-))
But.. now that I've read it more often, I actually think it's quite a nice name. I prefer shorter names myself, but I'm fine with it for a longer name.

Anne has a point with that nickname. If you call out Emmelot and Ella-Marie answers, it's bound to go wrong again. I'd also go for one name that's easy to call out. The Lancelot association is indeed weird, but you'll get used to it. Just choose what you'll still enjoy saying every day.
