Tips to get pregnant

Lisa V.Guest ·
Hi ladies!
First off: don't take this question too seriously. Besides having sex around ovulation, there probably aren't many tips that really increase the chance of pregnancy. If someone had the golden tip, we'd all be pregnant by round 1!
Still, I think it's fun to hear/read what tips you've all heard about, tried out... and which ones you think might boost your chances. I'm really curious!
The tips we're currently 'using': lying on your back for a while after sex, and staying as busy as possible with other things so it doesn't dominate your whole day.

Taking folic acid beforehand can also help.

Folic acid is for preventing spina bifida and other issues.

Besides just lying there: sex in the right position (missionary, doggy style, or spooning).

They say it also helps if the woman reaches her climax at the same time or shortly after the man.

Both being healthy; exercising a lot, no overweight, not smoking, and drinking in moderation.

Lighting a candle for good luck?

Just keep it fun and keep feeling the love. If it really doesn't work out, you'll get plenty more chances, unfortunately.

Keep in mind that sperm can survive in good condition for about 5 days.

    Keep the fun going.

As you already said, I think luck plays the biggest part!

I recently read somewhere that enough vitamin C can improve sperm quality in men. So I started my guy on vitamin C pills at the beginning of this cycle. He wasn't getting enough fruit and veggies anyway, so I figured pills would work better "By chance," I got pregnant this month too.

We happened to have sex on the evening of the positive ovulation test and two days before. Not sure if you use ovulation tests, but it seemed to help me!

Someone also gave me the tip to wash my intimate area with Chilly, which I started doing right after my period. It helps maintain a good, healthy balance down under, which I think is good for keeping the sperm as healthy as possible. This could also be a coincidence, but it doesn't hurt to try!

Good luck, and hopefully, you find these tips helpful

Oh, I'm already reading some cool tips here. Never heard of some of them!
The most important thing is indeed that it stays pleasant, and thus not a chore!
Congratulations, Nienke! Are you already feeling a lot of the pregnancy?

LisaV Thanks Yes, I already feel quite pregnant! I have bouts of nausea, my breasts are already growing quite a bit and you can feel that too, and I have a sensitive lower abdomen. Now I'm also quite cold, but apparently that can also be a pregnancy symptom.

I really hope you find the tips helpful!

Nienke, that's a lot of symptoms at 4 weeks! Hopefully, the nausea isn't too bad and you'll be over it soon.
Wishing you a lovely pregnancy and a cloud-like baby!

LisaV took wheat germ oil throughout the whole cycle and I got pregnant right away in April. It ended in a miscarriage after 8 weeks, but that has nothing to do with it. Wheat germ oil is vitamin E and is good for so many things!!!! If I get pregnant again, I'll even keep using it for the whole 9 months.

I got pregnant after I washed my intimate area with Chilly for my entire cycle. For a good pH level in your intimate area. That's my tip, I think? ;-) It worked for me after 20 rounds.

I'll take everything separately from what you're saying there; maybe it's all in a supplement? But then maybe only in a modest amount...

Please be careful with all those extra vitamins. If you eat a healthy, varied diet and exercise, you don't need them at all. Just because they're easily available doesn't mean they can't be harmful.

Washing your intimate area with soap is really not recommended. Not to put you down. It's super nice that it worked out so well!!! Still, all those intimate zone soaps aren't necessary and aren't very good either.

For some vitamins, you have to be careful—that's true. But with zinc, selenium, and vitamins D and E, you can't have too much. On the contrary. The older you get, the less you need of these...
So ultimately, trust your own intuition, but indeed, don't take too much.

    Thank you for your replies!

Hopefully, other ladies can use this (too).

I'm currently only taking folic acid and vitamin D. I try to eat as healthily as possible and I exercise 3-4 times a week anyway, so that's covered. I don't use any soap for my intimate area yet, but I consciously sleep without underwear or fancy pajamas at night (always have). I've always been taught that it's best to let everything air out as much as possible. Haha.
  15. Fien Guest #16

LisaV. I actually do use special soap for my vagina, I understood that this can also be good? How did you wash then? And you sleep naked? I do that too, good for airing out and more sex!
  16. Lisa V. started this #17

Fien, actually just with water. Always 'taught' that this was enough and still no unpleasant smells or anything.
Indeed, naked! Especially in the summer. My boyfriend doesn't mind that either! In winter, I sometimes sleep in a sleeping bag or loose pajamas, but always without underwear.

After having sex, I actually lay there for about 15 minutes with a pillow under my butt so the sperm would have a better chance of getting inside haha. No idea if it helps, but you know, people do whatever they can to get pregnant, right?
We did use ovulation tests as well.
    Now we’re two kids richer!
