Newborn clothing for high summer

DanaGuest ·
Hey everyone,

My due date is mid-August, so I'm wondering what kind of clothes you'd put on your baby then. Long sleeves or short??
Suppose it gets around 30 degrees Celsius, what's the best option? My first child was born in winter, so I have no idea at all.

All tips are welcome!

With warm weather, just wear short sleeves.

Augustus is usually warm, so I went for short-sleeved rompers. You can always put an extra layer of clothing on top. And just in case there's a cool night or you have a cold baby, you can buy 1 or 2 long-sleeved ones as well. You can always buy them later once the baby is born.

My daughter was born in July 2018, and it was really hot then too. Still, babies have trouble keeping themselves warm at first, and she just slept with little socks on. After a few weeks, she was often just in a short-sleeved onesie, or at 35 degrees, sometimes even just in a diaper. I'm due in August too, and I've got some long-sleeved undershirts for the beginning and a few short-sleeved ones for later.

I was due in August 2018, right after the heatwave. That’s when we also just gave our daughter long sleeves, just like puck says, at first babies can’t keep themselves warm well yet.

For newborns, I'd still go with long sleeves (and long pants) even though it's summer. They come from a nice warm belly, after all.

Well, my little boy really just stayed in a short-sleeved romper during the heatwave.
Just keep an eye on his temperature.

Okay, so it really varies per baby. I already have quite a few long-sleeve rompers and sleepers, so maybe I don't need to buy anything else. Thanks for the tips!

I gave birth in April 2018, just before the heatwave. During the heatwave, my little boy usually only wore a wrap romper, and when we went out, I also put him in a short, thin pair of shorts. I had a whole closet full of cute clothes, but he hardly wore any of it—only for the first few days. Then I found Noppies' boxy onesies, and I thought they were the best thing ever. I ended up with about 5 of them.
