Too soon for a second?

Hi,
Our oldest is 11 months now. I'm already feeling the itch for a second one again. When I see newborn babies or pregnant bellies, I think: how lovely!
Is it too soon after 11 months? How do you all experience that? Are there more people with a small age gap and how does it go? Really tough?

Emma if it feels right for you as a due date, I wouldn't hesitate at all about whether it's too fast! I got pregnant again, consciously, when my son was 10 months old. Unfortunately, it ended in a miscarriage, but I really wanted that small age gap. If it feels right for you and your partner, you should definitely go for it! You never know how things will turn out, and if something can't be planned, it's just a pregnancy.

If it feels right, why not. Two weeks before our daughter's first birthday, I had a positive test in hand. Now almost 24 weeks of the second

    Just do it!
I'm now 24 weeks pregnant and my daughter is just 15 months old. So she was 10 months old when I got pregnant.

Our little girl was born when her big sister was 16 months old.
It’s quite spicy, but I’m really happy that they’re so close in age. It’ll be so nice for them when the little one grows up a bit. Her big sister is super happy with her little sister and very caring. She’s not jealous at all.
If it tickles your fancy, just go for it, I’d say!!!

At the end of our maternity leave for our first child, the midwife asked what contraception I wanted. No answer, I want to experience this again very soon!
When he was 7 months old, we started trying for number 2, and at 10 months, it was a success. Now we have an age difference of 18 months. The kids have so much fun with each other, and I'd recommend it to everyone!

Given your reactions, we're following our gut feeling?

    Follow your gut!!

It's really not all roses and moonlight. Our oldest is 15, the second is almost 14. There's 18 months between the 3rd and 4th, who are 5 and almost 4. So 20 months between. So two close together with a big gap in between. Those two oldest argue just as much with each other as with the youngest. Sometimes I ask the youngest why we had them so close together. That's just nonsense. Even with a 10-year difference, there's arguing and playing. They remain brother and sister, etc.

If you're ready, just go for it.

Follow your gut instinct. I have to say it seems pretty intense if the oldest is still very young. If I hadn't had a miscarriage last May, there would have been 16 months between our kids. Looking back, that would have been pretty tough, because our daughter wasn't walking yet then, and you can naturally explain less to her. Fortunately, if everything goes well, we can still welcome a second child, and now there will be a bit more than 2 years between them. Meanwhile, our daughter knows the concept of 'waiting a bit' and is much more independent; she likes helping with little tasks, etc. I think it'll be easier now than it would have been in December. But well, you'll just get through that too, I guess.

There’s a 13-month gap between the twins and the oldest. I’m grateful for it every day. Also that when the kids were little, I didn’t have to go anywhere, no school, etc.
That “learning to wait” that was mentioned – you can’t really learn that later on. For our oldest, it was really good to learn that at such a young age. I think if you wait longer with that, it actually becomes harder. You’re busy with it, but that’s not forever, if everything goes well.

I think it's busy anyway with multiple children, regardless of the age difference. I have 3 children (5.5 years, 3 years and 3 months). Between the first and second is 2.5 years, between the 2nd and 3rd is 2 years and 10 months. The hardest moments I find when I'm feeding or putting the baby to bed (which takes a bit more time in the first months). Generally it goes well, but if the two oldest are in a bad mood then they know very well that I can't go anywhere. And in that regard I think it doesn't matter how old the children are. I'm glad there isn't less age difference between them. Now I only have 1 in diapers each time. The other 2 can also dress themselves, play well, go to bed more easily than when they were under 2. I also only have 1 child sleeping during the day now, so I don't have to stay home all day for all naps.

I think everyone is in a different situation, so think about how you see yourselves with 2 little ones and what you think the pros and cons are. And then just follow your gut feeling.

    Follow your gut!
There’s only 15 months between my kids, and let me tell you, I found it really intense. Now it’s fun, they’re 4 and 3 now, and it’s like twins. Jut and Jul!
