Which of the 2?!

Flo
This is so tricky, right? Everyone has their own taste...
Mell seems a bit ordinary to me, like "Melany" shortened...
Nandi makes me think of a Thai holy person or something

Just do what feels right to you and what you both find beautiful.

I agree with Flo. When I hear Nandi, I think of Gandhi. It's a somewhat spiritual name, and indeed original. It sounds Asian in some way. Mell is indeed an abbreviation of Melanie. I'd write it myself with one L, so Mel. I don't necessarily find it ordinary (Melanie feels more normal), and I know the author Mel Wallis de Vries, who uses it as a 'normal name'. Good luck with your choice!

For me, Nandi initially sounds like Nancy. After reading the other replies, I can also hear an Asian name in it.
I think Mell is nicer because I personally like strong-sounding names, and it definitely sounds strong. It doesn't immediately remind me of Mellany, but rather of the name Melle (and I think that's a nice name too).

I know someone named Nandy, a boy. If I saw your name Nandi, I’d also think of Gandhi, but I never really did that with him. Every name gets familiar so quickly that you’d soon stop making that connection if you had made it at first. Personally, I think Mell is much nicer.

Mell! I personally like short and tough names for both girls and boys. I also like Nandi because it sounds sweet hihi

    Nandi!

    Mell!

I think Mell is way cooler.

I think Mell is nice and cool.
Nandi sounds more boyish to me. But I'm used to Nanda.
