Overdue and negative test

Hi lovely ladies,

Since July we've been trying to complete our little family. My cycle varies between 25-28 days.
I track this via an app.
Normally I should have started my period 4 days ago, but it didn't show up. I'm really happy but trying not to get too excited about it yet hihi. I've tested every day and there seems to be a very faint line on the test, but you really have to hold it in the light at a certain angle to see it.
This morning was different though, I lost a tiny bit of blood last night. It's different from normal though, because it's really old blood now. (Normally menstruation starts with bright blood and then it gets darker)
Since I already had the test out, I went ahead and tested again. I saw a faint line again. I asked my boyfriend to take a look too and he saw it as well.
Are we being too hasty? Are we seeing that because we want to see it.
Could it also be an implantation bleed?
I've been very relaxed the past week, felt more relaxed than usual and didn't have the feeling that I was going to get my period..
My boyfriend also thought I was much more relaxed than usual.
I try not to think too much about it, but now after this morning I'm getting a bit scared that it didn't work out this month again.

What tips do you give?

Have a nice weekend everyone

It could be implantation bleeding, but it doesn't have to be. I think it's a bit late for implantation bleeding though. That happens less often than not. Are you sure about your ovulation?

A photo might be helpful. Then we can take a look too! ;-)

Here’s the test. As I mentioned above, you really have to look very closely to see a very faint line.
I’ve been bleeding for 4 days now. I’m going to take another test tomorrow, just to be sure... But I’m scared. My period started a few days late. According to the app, my cycle this month is 31 days long.

I’d love to hear what you all think.

I see something, but if you're really 4 days past your period, this is quite faint. I think it could go a few ways. Either you were pregnant, but it's not developing properly. Or your ovulation was later, so you're still before your expected period. Unfortunately, there's not much else to do but keep testing to see if the line disappears or gets darker.

    Hi Puck,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
I did ovulation tests for a few months. Usually, my ovulation was on day 12.
Unfortunately, I didn’t keep track of the tests last month, so it’s extra hard to figure out when it might have been.
I’m going to do another test tomorrow to see if the HCG is more visible now.
What I find really typical is that I was late, and both my partner and I noticed changes in my behavior (I suddenly got into cleaning mode), so we actually thought I might be pregnant. But then I got my period after a very stressful and exciting day. The day before my period, we had unexpected visitors—someone we hadn’t expected and didn’t want to have contact with anymore.
I don’t usually have many stressful moments.
Do you think this could have played a role? But still, if it did, I’d think the baby could handle it, right?

    Have a nice evening!

I took another test this morning. Unfortunately, it's really negative
