Naming the baby after grandpa

Liesbeth
I tested positive twice last weekend. I’m going to my GP on Wednesday evening to get a blood test.
We’ve been thinking about names for a while now, and we’ve picked one for each gender
If it’s a boy, we want to name him after my late father-in-law: Mathieu! We really think it’s a beautiful name, and it has a special meaning for us.
Has anyone else done this?

I think naming after someone is really nice, but I personally choose a variation of the name they're named after, especially if it's a more traditional name.

Yeah, I also named after my grandpa. Although not as a first name, but that was more because I couldn't choose between two names.
I do like your name though.

My great-grandmother was called Wilhelmina 'Wil', my mom's middle name is Wilhelmina, my middle name is 'Willemijn', and my son's middle name is 'Willem'
