Had the version done, but the baby is still in a breech position.

Hi ladies,

This morning we tried to turn the baby because he’s in a breech position. The version went pretty well and everything was there to make it work—enough space, amniotic fluid, etc. But after 2 people and 6 attempts, he was still breech. Now I’m bruised and blue. I’m having some discomfort from it, though apparently the baby isn’t bothered at all. We can schedule another appointment next week to try again, but I’m not so sure anymore. I absolutely don’t want a breech birth and I’m leaning towards a C-section. I’d love to hear what you’d do. You shouldn’t underestimate a C-section, of course... but a little voice in my head says I should go for it. I don’t really believe in turning anymore. They really tried their hardest, but it just didn’t work. Next week he’ll be even bigger and probably starting to engage, which will only make it less likely!

Looking forward to your replies!

    Hi Bo,

Too bad it didn't work out...
I wouldn't go for a version, then better a C-section even though you shouldn't take that lightly.
Ok, the internet isn't everything but I've read things about a version and it scared me. I do know that it often goes well but not here, then no "normal" birth.
And for you now, go by your gut, they've been trying for quite a long time as I read and unfortunately it didn't work out?
Your gut usually gives you the best advice.
    Good luck anyway girl!

    Warm regards, Dani

Oh, that's so sad to hear it didn't work out :-(
With our second baby, we had an external version... which actually worked, but her arms were still under her head, which isn't supposed to happen... We had to wait and eventually her arms moved, she descended normally, and we had a natural birth.
I totally understand you not wanting to do this again; I was literally blue and bruised too...
I also had a C-section with our first baby... it was a breeze for me and my recovery was super fast.
I wouldn't want a breech birth anyway!! So I wouldn't go for that either.
Personally, I think if everything is okay, you should still try a version... just my thought though..

I had that too, twice a failed turning attempt. I had a C-section. I didn’t find it very successful, but then again, every woman experiences it differently. Love, Karina

The fact that the version didn't work out probably has a reason, right?

Personally, I'd just give birth naturally, partly because I've looked into it and the risks nowadays are really minimal,
just a tiny bit higher than with a regular birth,
and doctors have much more experience now than before..
I've also heard experiences from women and very many brands no difference at all
    with a normal birth.
(to my surprise actually couldn't even find 1 terrible experience!)

Look at the options and weigh the positive against the negative.
(Write it down if necessary! I do that with every important decision)
You can always ask the experts too!!
    Good luck!

    Oh Froop,
I hadn’t looked at it that way at all, that’s some useful info for you!!!
    Greetings, Olivia!
