Hungry baby

I’ve posted this topic under other sections too, but I see it’s pretty much dead there, so I’m putting it up here again..

Hi everyone,
My 2-month-old son is an incredibly hungry baby. He’s bottle-fed and I’ve just been giving him the standard Stage 1 from Jumbo. He’s already nearly 6 kilos, so according to the guidelines he should get 180cc of formula. Since he kept asking for the next bottle faster and faster, I switched him to Stage 2 (Forté) formula, which is specially made for hungry babies, after consulting with the health center. They said he should feel fuller for longer on this. But my son doesn’t seem to be any fuller; if anything, he’s asking even faster now! When he’s hungry, he screams his head off, it’s literally painful to your ears and I sometimes get serious headaches from it. Of course, I don’t want him to suffer from hunger, so I sometimes give him a bottle earlier than scheduled.
Unfortunately, he’s only 2 months old, so adding extra veggies or fruit snacks isn’t an option yet, and I’m also not allowed to mix rice flour into his milk yet.

Are there any mamas with equally hungry babies? How do you handle it?

Oh, that's really annoying. I breastfed our son on demand, so I have no experience with this.
I also had a little ball of a kid at 1 year and was referred to a dietitian at 2 years. But it turned out fine with him though. Over the past 1.5 years he hasn't gained any weight and only grew in height.
My only idea would be to give a bit more or more often than allowed and as soon as you can start with fruit/veggie snacks.
Or look for a mother who is breastfeeding and has excess milk. You're allowed to give more of that and if you have nice full mom milk, it also fills better than bottle feeding.

Are you sure it's hunger? Not a need to suck or maybe pain?

Assuming he's at a higher stage, I'd just feed him on demand. Maybe he's hungrier during the day than in the evening or night. Makes sense since he burns more calories during the day. If you think Forté is causing hunger, go back to regular feeding.

It's really tough. Hang in there. Trust your maternal instincts and not all those averages and rules.
