9-month-old fair

My partner and I have been trying for our second baby for 10 months now. Next month is the 9 Months Fair. I went to it during my pregnancy with our first one and I really enjoyed it. It was quite busy though. Now I'm wondering whether I should go this year. We're basically assuming that I'll just get pregnant "naturally", at least my partner is much more optimistic than I am. But if I get pregnant between now and 3-4 months, I'll miss the 9 Months Fair, since it only happens once a year. It's a bit silly that it's only once a year, but oh well. I don't really want to drive myself crazy before I know for sure. There's already a gap of 4.5 years between conceiving our first child and trying for our second, and my husband is a bit older now. I've read that there can be various reasons why it worked the first time but not a few years later, and he doesn't want to go to the doctor for now. Anyway, I'm not buying anything until I'm pregnant. I do have a pile of stuff from our first baby stored in the attic though. My question now: do you go if you're not pregnant yet? And why is it only once a year? Because if you're just pregnant or already in your last weeks, you probably wouldn't go, I think. Sigh. Hihi.

Eh, long story haha. But I'm not going. The chance that I'm pregnant right now is low, and I'm due for my period tomorrow, so I doubt anything. If I turn out to be pregnant in round 16 anyway, I'll just be 4 weeks into the 9-month expo. Besides, I find it quite confronting... for me, it's no longer "just getting pregnant"... so no, I'm not going. I know you'll encounter pregnant women in everyday life too, but I find that less confronting than going to a place that's all about pregnancy, babies, kids, stuff, etc.

But well, if you think it's fun, definitely go. That's nice. And yeah, you can basically go even if you're not pregnant yet? Get some inspiration, and there's probably lots of fun stuff for older kids too ;-) Also, I get that your friend doesn't want to go to the GP yet. Give it another two months, I know that sounds intense, but they don't say "a year" for nothing. Hopefully, you'll get a positive test soon ;-)

I was pregnant during the 9 Months Fair and also last time around that fair was on when I was pregnant, but I really find it the ultimate horror. All those people pressed up against each other. Terrible. So I'm not going. You also have the In de Wolken festival in October, which is kind of the same. So you could go there if you're pregnant and otherwise skip the 9 Months Fair.

Oh, that's a good tip. Thanks! I didn't know about the Cloud Festival, by the way. I'll have to Google it. Yeah, it's really busy. We went on purpose during the week, and even then it was super crowded. At least in that one section. In that hall, it's a bit more spacious. We would have gone with our little boy, so we'd bring a stroller, which quickly fills up the space with all those strollers. You really have to be able to handle it. I had a friend with me then (not pregnant, but with a fatigue disorder), and she got really dizzy and claustrophobic from the crowd. I found it funny at the time; I kept feeling like I was experiencing something unique, the miracle of being pregnant. But there, among all those pregnant women, hahaha, it suddenly didn't feel so special, unique, or extraordinary anymore, hahahaha. Not to be taken the wrong way, of course.

Yeah, I totally relate to that last part, like with prenatal swimming classes. You never see so many pregnant bellies together. And suddenly there are 20 of them! It’s really quite special.
