Pregnant or not?

Eli
Hey,
I'm 9 DPO and I'm experiencing nausea (in waves), diarrhea, headaches, and fatigue (I fall asleep quickly and everywhere).
I don't recognize these symptoms from my son's pregnancy, and I can only test next week, but I'm curious if anyone else recognizes them.

I also track my temperature, which I've added to my question.
We did have some heavy lifting on the day of my ovulation, which I only realized afterward.
Thanks for the replies!

It's possible, your temp is quite high compared to before your ovulation, but I see today that it's going down a bit. If it goes down by 0.1 or 0.2, it's not a big deal, but otherwise, I don't think you're pregnant. A test will have to show that, and sometimes our body just plays tricks on us. Also, I don't track my temp myself because sometimes my temp stayed high on the day itself, and I still got my period afterwards. Good luck with waiting. You can also take a test at 12 dpo if you want, if you're pregnant, it will definitely be positive! ;-)

Sounds like the flu that's going around here. Only milder. That's what I'm dealing with. Mom can't get sick.

Yes, our bodies can really play tricks on us, even when we want to experience enough . I also have my temp chart from December, but I don't base myself on it because I was sick then, which explains the high temperature. But as you can see, there's a sudden drop at the end, and the next day I got my period. So that elevated temp doesn't mean much unfortunately. But if this continues until next week (I should normally get my period around 30/01), then I'll test. But it's that waiting and that uncertainty that feels so long.

I got vaccinated (in November) against the flu, so that would seem weird to me

It's really widespread, I hear, and a flu shot is good, but it doesn't guarantee you won't catch the flu. Keep an eye on your temp, and an early test is always an option, as I said. If it's positive, that's nice, but if it's negative, that doesn't always mean you're not pregnant. Still waiting, I only tested positive at 3 days late in my second pregnancy, and before that, even with an early test, it was negative.

First time I got the vaccine, I had a sore throat the next day and the flu. So it's indeed not guaranteed that you won't get it, of course.
Now my temp is always around 37, yesterday 37.2 and today 37.1. I'm keeping my spirits up, even though it wasn't planned, it's more than welcome .
If I want to test at 12dpo, should I use an early test or is the regular Clearblue also good?

I'd recommend doing an early test. A regular one might work if you produce hCG a bit faster, but you never know for sure. Clear Blue usually only works from 25 hCG onwards. So I'd go for an early test, e.g., Kruidvat 2 for 5, Action Early, etc. If that's positive, you could try a Clear Blue if you really want to, maybe even with the weeks indicator ;-)

    Update:
I had diarrhea from eating something wrong, probably the stomachache comes from that too, although I still feel a bit nauseous sometimes, mostly in the morning. In the afternoon I'm energetic but tired at the same time. My temperature was 37.4 today, so still high, even higher than the previous days.
I bought an early test at Kruidvat and I'm going to test tomorrow.
    Let's hope. ????

    Exciting! Good luck tomorrow!

Tested today, got a light positive pregnancy test in my hands.
My son is 11 months old now, is that too soon for a second one? How will he react to the birth, he'll be about 1 year and 7 months old then.

This one is not just mildly positive, it's clearly positive! Congratulations!!!

Why would it be too early? He's 11 months plus 8 weeks, so 19 months old. That's totally fine! It'll be fun.

How he reacts depends on him and on you. How you handle it matters. There are really nice books now to read to him, so he'll start to understand more. Include him in everything, during and after the pregnancy. And make sure you have some one-on-one time with him after the birth.

    Thanks

He was born via an emergency C-section, and I was supposed to wait a full year before getting pregnant again. But this was truly a blessing in disguise.

We’re definitely bringing him along to every ultrasound and involving him as much as possible. He already has some 'experience' with babies and other kids since he goes to daycare and became a big uncle in November 2019.

Every time I show him a video of a baby, he starts laughing and shouting with joy We’re really confident that everything will turn out fine, but he’s still so little and just loves kicking too much when I’m trying to change or care for him.

Wow, very positive for 11 dpo. Congratulations!

    Congratulations!
My kids are 22 months apart. My experience is that they don't get much out of it, at most the last month when she kind of understood that there was a baby in there. My daughter never went to an ultrasound or anything like that, once for a check-up and then she screamed so loud (my mom is against me and everyone stays away from the idea) that they couldn't listen to the heart haha. Since then, she wasn't allowed to come along anymore haha, better for me and for her too. But after birth it was quite busy, but regarding the age difference, my daughter picked it up so well (though with some tantrums at first). She doesn't know any better and is super sweet and caring towards her little brother as if he had always been there.

    Thank you !

We'll see what he does at the first check-up. He's usually very calm. Even with the pediatrician, he lets them do their thing, and whenever I hand him over to someone else, there's never been a problem. We'll see how it goes. Right now, he's indeed still way too little to understand that a baby is growing in my belly and that he's going to be a big brother. But starting this summer, we'll try explaining it to him with a little book (which he already finds interesting). We'll definitely involve him as much as possible in everything; I think that's really important.
