How early can you already feel something?

Hi hi. I’m wondering, how early can you already notice something if you’re pregnant? You sometimes read about women who notice it right away. But how is that possible, if the journey to the uterus and implantation takes a week? Aren’t hormones only released after implantation, which is what makes you feel different? I even thought it wasn’t noticeable until 5 weeks of pregnancy.

We’ve been trying for a second baby for 10 months now. So far, I seem to feel everything every cycle. Gurgling intestines, sensitive breasts, bloated lower belly, cramps, occasional nausea, occasional headaches. But then I still get my period. I’m only a few days past ovulation now, and I have a lot of discharge. But really, the kind where you need to grab new toilet paper up to 3 times after peeing because it’s still slippery (sorry for the description). I thought that only happens during ovulation and right before menstruation. Or am I just imagining all of this because I’m so focused on it?

Could it be that with a second pregnancy, your body recognizes it right away? Or does something like a false pregnancy exist, just like in animals?

I don't know about all that, but I had that discharge too! Exactly the same, right after my ovulation. It lasted about 4 or 5 days. I couldn't bring myself to take a test at home. It's stopped now, and I expect my period tomorrow or the day after. So no idea if it means anything...

Hi hi, I had 4 and 5 dpo stomach pain and diarrhea (now I don't know if it was stomach flu or implantation after all) 6 dpo sore breasts and tested 7 dpo already light positive. I've actually had discharge for a few days now, 10/11 dpo.

    Thanks for the replies.

Yes exactly Claire89, 4 or 5 days, now it's normal again. I'm due next week. I've got pretty much all the symptoms, but I had them in previous cycles too, so I try not to see them as signs right away because the disappointment is always so big.

Hi Guest. What is dpo....? Indeed, my bowels are upset and my breasts are sore. But yeah, I'm really hoping for it, which makes me see every little cramp as a sign

But you can really notice it right away if it's successful? But implantation still takes more than a week, right? Or are there hormones right after fertilization?

I had different symptoms every month, but they were mostly due to normal hormones and my cycle. In the end, once I was pregnant, I ended up feeling more dizzy than before. But otherwise, nothing else. That only started after my NTD. And the dizziness could also have been 'normal', just because I was pregnant I don't know if it's part of it or if it was really an illness . (And that last thing applies to almost all illnesses: because illnesses are partly caused by 'normal' hormones, it's hard to link them to one thing or the other.)

From what I read here on the forum from other women: Discharge can vary enormously from month to month.

But it could very well be that you're women who notice it really early, there are those too ! Hopefully it's positive! If you've been pregnant before: what was different then? Maybe you'll have that again now.

Hmmm that sounded a bit preachy and that wasn't my intention! But I do regret focusing so much on the ailments haha. In hindsight, it was all wasted energy

I think having symptoms varies from woman to woman, but honestly, I think most of it is nonsense, to be straight with you. Many symptoms are also part of an approaching period, even if you didn't have them in your previous cycle or before that. Every cycle can be different. I had extremely sore nipples last cycle, and I didn't really have them before, so I actually assumed I was pregnant. But no, it was just a sign that my period was coming. The times I was pregnant, I noticed almost nothing until the positive test. It was purely a feeling that said, "Wow, I'm already 1.5 weeks late, I should take a test." That was with my daughter; I was already 5.5, almost 6 weeks before I took a test, purely because I had very few symptoms to begin with. Those only came after the test, around 6.5/7 weeks...

With my second pregnancy, I only had some headaches, half a week after the positive test. Before that, I hadn't noticed anything, except going to the toilet a bit more, which is normal... you also get that as a sign of an approaching period. In short: it really can vary from woman to woman. But if you look at the "hcg column" and how high hcg is at 3 weeks... it seems to me that you're already feeling clear pregnancy symptoms now, even though your hcg is still so low. But that's just my opinion. I also know that opinions on this are divided, and everyone has their own experience. But as Mimi said and I'm saying now: PLEASE don't fixate on symptoms... if you are pregnant, you'll see that you might not have had any symptoms at all, because you hear that a lot. "Wow, I have no symptoms." "Wow, it's really that I tested positive." Yep... good luck with the waiting! I know how hard it is. I still have 8 days until I can test.

Selby, how did things go after that?
I wanted to tell you a bit about how it went for me, maybe it's helpful. I got my period on cycle day 33. This was exactly two weeks after all that watery discharge had stopped. It's a bit weird, I first had a few days of stringy, egg-white-like discharge (I thought that was around my ovulation) and then the more watery and quite abundant discharge (I thought that was after ovulation). So it turns out that the second type of discharge was also part of my ovulation. It's different from what you read everywhere about what fertile mucus looks like. But anyway, I'm getting to know my cycle and body better and better, so hopefully it'll click one day.
Maybe the discharge you had also meant your ovulation was a bit later than you initially thought? Or did you test positive after all?

    @Claire89

I’m expecting my period on Friday. So far I think I’ve been having tender breasts and feeling extra tired. But I guess I feel something every cycle anyway

Friday is when my period is due. But I just happened to feel a little cramp and I was extra grumpy this morning, so I’m kind of scared that my period is just about to start

    Selby, how did things go?

Maybe the bleeding meant your ovulation was a bit later than you initially thought? Or did you test positive anyway?

1 day late!!!!! I don't dare to test yet and try not to get too excited, otherwise the disappointment will be so great. I've been a day late before. But if I'm not yet on my period tomorrow, I will test

Shelby, Je was gisteren toch? Hoe gaat het inmiddels met je?

Shelby, Je was yesterday, right? How are you doing now?
    Orchidea

Ahhh, that's so sweet of you to ask
1 day late indeed. I'm trying not to rush things. If I'm not there by tomorrow, I'll do a test, I still have one left. Meanwhile, I'm trying not to sneeze and to sit carefully, hehehe, although that's actually not necessary
  12. Orchidea #13

Sounds exciting! I'm rooting for you... Are you usually always on time? ;-).... So exciting!!
And I totally get that, I had that too... that feeling of not being able to sneeze etc.. Go go, when are you going to test again?
  13. Floor Guest #14

Exciting! I always feel implantation very clearly, and for me it happens around 7 DPO. I don't believe in women who can physically feel after sex "this is it, I'm pregnant now." The egg isn't even fertilized yet. I do believe you can experience that in your head because you think the timing is good, or your intuition just works that way. But I used to think that too, and then it wasn't the case haha. I do always have a different kind of period cramps when I'm pregnant; I mainly recognize it by that. The real symptoms only come after 5.5 weeks.

So hihi, hearing that you've already enjoyed a few pregnancies, Floor, haha! It's so true that you recognize that feeling so well You're right, some women feel it right away, while it takes the egg over a week to descend into the womb and implant. I think when you're trying to get pregnant, you're so focused on it that you feel all sorts of things you wouldn't normally notice. We've been trying for 10 months now, and I thought every cycle, "It's happening! I feel different!" but then the disappointment at the end is just so huge each time.

Thanks for your enthusiasm, hihi. I'm going to test tomorrow. My friend already said, "Wow, what patience! I always did early tests," but well, then I'd have had that disappointment 10 times by now. I only want to test when I'm really late, so I don't get disappointed again. In those 10 attempts, I've already been 1 day late once. My sister was even 5 days late once and ended up pregnant. But you never know if you're just late or had an early miscarriage. You hear about miscarriages a lot, don't you? That's why I'm not jumping the gun too much. But secretly, the feeling of being late is already pretty great, hihihihihihihihihihi.

Just took a test, couldn't resist... but negative... Maybe because it wasn't first morning urine. Let's hope that's the case. I don't have any more at home. So I'm feeling pretty down now, not sure if I'll even go out today. By the way, I took a photo of the test but don't know how to upload it here.
  16. Orchidea #17

Shelby, at the bottom of the post you'll see "Add photo" ;-)
  17. Orchidea #18

Hey missie, how are you doing now? Day 2 overdue, or did you see the red devils coming? ;-) I'm thinking of you!

Ahhh, how sweet! I just opened another topic. Did a test, and at first glance I don’t see it, but when I tilt it back and forth, it’s very subtle. But now I’m still doubting! Can’t upload a video. Maybe put it on YouTube first?
