Can you get a positive result on a pregnancy test with an ovulation test?

The title says it all.

I'm 4 days before my period and just for fun did an ovulation test, and it showed one line. Has anyone here experienced this??

I do have some symptoms like stabbing and cramping. Sometimes my nipples ache and I have lower back pain. Also some other symptoms like discharge.

Thanks

Hey Karin, yes, ovulation tests can sometimes show a super positive result.

But I'd still go with a pregnancy test.

See below, the top one is the ovulation test I did as a joke, but I already had a line on the pregnancy test.
I just wanted to quickly test if that positive result from the ovulation test was accurate

@flower1990 I didn't know that was possible. My ovulation also shows 2 lines, but that's what it's been doing since my ovulation with these tests.

Yes, sure, that's possible. An ovulation test also reacts to hCG, but not the other way around, so a pregnancy test can't react to LH.

An ovulation test really needs to show two thick lines to be positive, so as thick as the control line, because you always have a little bit of LH in your body, so a lighter line is a negative ovulation test.

I did hesitate a bit because I was overdue. I took an ovulation test and it showed a pretty thick line, one day after my expected period. I bought pregnancy tests, but unfortunately, they were negative. So I wouldn't recommend relying on an ovulation test; just buy the right test instead.

Same story as Puck here. Ovulation test showed 2 thick lines. Took a pregnancy test after, unfortunately not pregnant then.

This was my ovulation test 2 days after my period when I was pregnant with my daughter. So it's possible. But it's different for every woman

I think you can say that it’s positive for everyone who is pregnant and therefore has hCG in their urine. But unfortunately, it’s also sometimes positive when you’re not pregnant. So a positive test doesn’t mean anything then.

An ovulation test will just gradually turn positive as hCG rises, just like a pregnancy test, so it doesn't need to be a super dark positive to show it's positive. With my last pregnancy, I tested with both from 5 days before my expected period. I had way too many ovulation tests, so I was just doing it for fun. But my ovulation test did show a slightly darker line than the pregnancy test from 5 days before my expected period, though not a super dark positive right away. It did get darker after my expected period, and a week after, the line was dark purple. So they do react to hCG, which I think is also stated in the instructions. You just always need to test with a pregnancy test to be sure it's hCG and not LH.
