Tradition Sinterklaas development help!!!

Hi everyone!

After a lot of tough years, with me in my youth and a child with serious behavioral issues, Sinterklaas has been truly fun and cozy for the first time.

Now I want to introduce some nice and pleasant traditions for the eldest (15) and the two youngest (4 and 3). How do I approach this?

It starts with dinner: how and what do we eat? Don't suggest gourmetting. How do you distribute the gifts? In previous years, it was a scramble for the sack. How do you handle this? We celebrate with just our family.

Still snacks in the evening? Pepernoten? Old school

Love, beertje86

I think giving out little gifts during the game is already plenty for the little ones. You could indeed put some pepernoten on the table. It's already exciting enough for kids on such an evening, so don't give too much out all at once.
Regarding handing out gifts: you can have one child pick a gift, and once they've unwrapped it, let that same child pick a new gift from the bag and hand it to the respective child.
Or you can hand out the gifts one by one.

    What fun ideas!

The youngest ones can handle the excitement well, luckily. That's why it's so nice and cozy right now!

We're going to have a gourmet dinner. For Christmas, it'll be a bit different. My husband is luckily home in time so it doesn't get too late. I wanted to do the presents around 6 pm. Then it's already dark and still early in the evening.

What a nice idea to hide them upstairs. Maybe when they're a bit older.

Another food idea, maybe for a birthday or Christmas or something...

A grill plate on the table where you can make your own pancakes.. A favorite here for the kids! All sorts of things you can put on them..
Pizzarette is also very fun but that takes longer to get ready.
