What do you all think of the name Leia (pronounced in English; Lay-ah)?
P.S. I don't have anything to do with Star Wars, but I just find it a bit more special than just Leah.
Although you pronounce it the same.
I'm curious what the name evokes in people and why you prefer the spelling Leia or Leah.
We keep on doubting, hence...
P.S. We don't mind having to correct people if they initially pronounce the name incorrectly.
Thanks in advance!

Leah is spelled more beautifully and has a less obvious connection to Star Wars. Otherwise, I find the connection, at least on paper, unavoidable

I think Leah is prettier, but I also pronounce it differently.
If you want the pronunciation Lay-ah, I’d definitely go for Leia.

You pronounce them both differently, so I’d go with the pronunciation (and corresponding spelling) that you both find most beautiful. And there are plenty of people who don’t watch Star Wars and don’t associate it with that (like me, haha). And even if that’s true, is it really a big deal?

    What a beautiful name, Leia!

Definitely Leia, just a bit less ordinary. Such a beautiful name!

I think Leia is such a lovely name! It's just a bit less standard than Leah. I don't watch Star Wars myself, so I definitely didn't make that connection.

    Thank you so much! ????

Thank you so much! The question marks were actually smilies.. I don't know what went wrong with my previous post!

Nice name! I'd pronounce it as Lei-ja. So not really Lay (Lee), but more like "ei" as in "meisje".

Leia! A really beautiful, feminine name!
