Miscarriage or pregnant

2 weeks ago I had an ultrasound and they said my uterus wasn't empty, so it was either a miscarriage or a short pregnancy.
A week later I had another ultrasound and they said it was a miscarriage, but there was no bleeding or anything else. My breasts didn't hurt before, and now for the past 3 days they're really sore. I also have a lot of heartburn. I'm not sure what to do or whether I actually had a miscarriage or if it was too early to tell (it was an internal ultrasound).

I assume you still have a follow-up appointment scheduled with your midwife/gynecologist. I find it hard to give you an answer here since I wasn't there. If you haven't had any bleeding yet, I think a follow-up appointment is definitely important, and if the baby has stopped growing, a D&C might be necessary. It seems strange to me that you don't know what's going on. My advice is to call your midwife, take your questions to her, and if needed, ask for another ultrasound or do another pregnancy test.

It could also be that it was too early to see anything. I went through the same thing in my previous pregnancy; I was 5 weeks and a few days pregnant when I went to the gynecologist, and he even asked, "ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE PREGNANT?" But I was indeed pregnant, and on the next ultrasound, he saw it better. I hope it's the same for you. Good luck.

No, I didn't schedule a follow-up appointment because the midwife said it was a miscarriage, but it seems pretty strong to me that my uterus would be empty within a week without anything coming out.
The reason I'm also not daring to request an ultrasound now is because I'm afraid of being disappointed.

    You still haven't gone?
If you were actually pregnant and had a miscarriage but your body isn't resolving it on its own, you could end up far from home and develop an infection and other issues. I'd suggest getting it checked out.

I understand your uncertainty, but what I don’t get is why you’re asking questions here when the only option is to request another ultrasound or have a blood test at the GP. And then you say you’re afraid of disappointment—that’s understandable, but it doesn’t help you at all. I’d want certainty, so I’d ask questions that still haven’t been answered for you.
