Light long period, when is ovulation?

Hi,

My partner and I would like to start having children. Now I'm a bit confused about my period. Let me explain.

I just turned 30 and I think I've been off the pill for about 2 years. We've been trying to get pregnant for 4 months now. For about a year now, my periods have started with brown discharge (one panty liner per day is enough), but it can last up to 8 days. Sometimes there are days in between with no bleeding at all. Then I usually have 2 days of 'normal' bleeding. So, about 8 to 10 days in total. I had a smear test in March this year and everything was fine. Now I'm starting to wonder if this is normal.

I'm not sure when my ovulation is. Should I start counting from the first day I have brown discharge?

Thanks in advance!

Greetings, Eva

Hi Eva, exciting! How long is your cycle from bright red to bright red now? My period also starts with brown, usually with 1-2 panty liners, and then it usually breaks through at night. I then have 2-3 days of bright red and use tampons, the next day it's still a bit pink and then it's over. I count my cycle from day 1 when it really breaks through (so bright red and a lot).

    Hi!
My cycle isn't super regular. I use an app where I always log my period, and it also tells me when I'm likely to be fertile (I start logging from the first day of brown spotting since that can last up to 5 days).
Now I'm already on day 9 and still no bright red flow, just a tiny bit of brown. I'm considering getting a test but I don't have any other symptoms.

    Greetings!

I just took a test and it was clearly positive. It hasn't really sunk in yet.
Could the brown discharge be a bad sign? I'm also having cramps like I'm about to get my period.
