Which tests?

Hi, I'll explain my question in a bit more detail. End of September (while I was on the pill), I suddenly started bleeding very lightly, while I was halfway through my pill pack. This lasted a few days, and I kept feeling nauseous (even gagging when smoking, and sometimes when eating if I could eat at all). I also had stomach issues. After those few days, I had one day where I threw up 6 times, had stomach pain, felt short of breath and cold, shaky, weak/almost powerless, and could barely stand on my legs. The bleeding also got heavier, and lasted more than 7 days. My friend thought it might be implantation bleeding, but I was scared I had lost something. Since that day, I haven't taken my pill, just to be sure. Now it's Nov 8 (I didn't take it in Oct either), and I still haven't gotten my period. I have stomach discomfort, for example when I wear a tight jacket, a strange feeling in my stomach, very tired but can't sleep, and sometimes itching on my stomach and breasts. On Oct 8 I did 2 tests (during the bleeding), but nothing much. The first one had a line that was barely visible to the naked eye, and the next day the second test was blank. Should I try another test now? Thanks in advance!

It's unfortunately been viewed, but is there anyone so kind to reply quickly? x

Is there even a chance of pregnancy?

    Hi Jessica,

If I understand correctly, you started bleeding while still taking the pill? That can happen to some women, so it doesn't necessarily mean you're pregnant. Do you usually skip the pill-free week? If so, that makes breakthrough bleeding more likely.

You mentioned that you stopped taking the pill since then and haven't gotten your period yet. Your symptoms could be caused by coming off the pill. Yes, you can feel pretty rough, and these symptoms can sometimes mimic early pregnancy. (I had similar, though milder, symptoms in the first month after stopping the pill.)

Of course, you can always take a test just to be sure. That'll give you more clarity. There's no one-size-fits-all rule for this; every woman's experience is different. Good luck with the test!

    Best,
    Maya

    Hi Jessica,

I also had a breakthrough bleed in September/October this year after missing a pill. I wasn't feeling sick, but I did feel like my period was about to start, and I couldn't get comfortable lying down because of a weird feeling in my belly.

My doctor told me to stop taking the pill, and then I got my period right away.

So I'm also coming off the pill now, and I'm mainly dealing with fatigue and a rotten mood. I can't tell you if the hormones are making me feel sick, because I already feel sick often due to a digestive issue. But I still constantly feel like my period is coming and have rumbling in my belly, but nothing is coming out.

After I got my period right after stopping, I calculated when it would come the next month. But it didn't. Now, after a week and a half, I still haven't gotten my period. I took a pregnancy test after 1 week, and it was negative.

I've now made an appointment with the doctor that if I haven't gotten my period within three weeks, I'll take another test and then contact them to see if I'm pregnant or not.

The doctor explained to me that in her practice, women can sometimes not get their period for up to half a year after coming off the pill.

So for me, it's just waiting and seeing.

You can always call the doctor/assistant; they can help you out well.

By the way, are you still feeling nauseous?

    Hi!
Yeah, I did slip up a bit, but that was 2 months ago and I did get my period during the placebo week. I'm still feeling nauseous, and sometimes feel like throwing up when I smoke. I don't know if it's because of stopping the pill, because I've stopped before for a while after long-term use and always got my period on time. But now, after taking it regularly for half a year again, I stopped for a month and a half. After that bleeding (I calculated it, it lasted 8 days, whereas if I were pregnant it would be max 5 days), I didn't get my period. And now it's the same situation. Sounds weird haha, but my boyfriend has quite a lot of sperm (he was tested), and his ex got pregnant even though she was on the pill... so you start doubting quickly, of course. I think I'll get a test anyway, but I'll wait a few more days before testing, just to be sure.

    Hi Jessica,
Did you also contact your GP during those bleeding episodes? Or are you in contact with them now?
  7. jessica Guest #8

No, I haven't had contact with the midwife yet. I'm a bit scared to go to her, but if it takes too long, I'll have to go. I'll definitely test on Monday first, and if there's nothing, I'll make an appointment.

    Hi Jessica,
How are you doing? Have you taken a test yet? You can always call your GP, you know. They won’t think any question is too much.
