Uncertain

Hi!

I've been registered here for a few days.
Since early June, I've stopped taking the pill because we want a child.

But in the meantime, there's still nothing... Absolutely nothing. It's making me feel quite insecure, especially since you read a lot of stories from women where it just won't work out.
How did it go for you? And for those whose journey took longer, when did you take further steps, like seeing a GP?

Phew, I know exactly how you feel... my period didn't start either after stopping the pill... after waiting 6 months, I took the step to see my GP and was immediately referred to a gynecologist. The cause was clear right after the first tests (blood tests + ultrasound): PCOS. After trying different treatments for a year, I got pregnant... I now have 3 kids, but I'll never forget that uncertain time and the feelings that came with it..

My tip: if your period really doesn't show up, don't wait too long to visit your GP. The standard rule of "you're eligible for help after a year" doesn't apply here; it's clear that something is 'wrong'.

Wishing you lots of success. X

    Thanks for your reply!
That's great that you've got 3 kids by now!
I had intended not to dwell on it too much. But if you don't get your period at all, it becomes more and more of an issue and you get more and more unsure.
Suddenly I'm getting more pimples again, on my face and arms. Really oily skin. But forget about getting my period.
Can I ask a few more questions?
Did you have a lot of complaints when you stopped the pill because of all the hormones?
And did you notice beforehand that you had symptoms of PCOS?

So it's almost 4 months now? I'd just call your GP, explain the situation, and ask what's best to do in this case. You do hear that it can take a while for your cycle to get back on track, but in some cases, I think it's a good idea to get it checked out. How long were you on the pill?

I was on the pill for about 11 years, so quite a long time. I'm still taking it for now. If my symptoms get worse or if things don't start up again by the end of October, I'll definitely call.
Has anyone here stopped taking the pill after a long time and suddenly got complaints again like pimples, oily skin, and hair growth?

I definitely had that pretty quickly. After stopping the pill, it got a bit worse for a while. Now, during pregnancy, it's nice and calm. It's related to the hormones; the pill often helps with these complaints, so it seems worse now.

I’ve been in your situation too.
    I was also very unsure.
We really did our best. We used an app to calculate fertile days, took ovulation tests, and made sure to be active during those times.
After a year, we went to the doctor because it wasn’t working.
At that point, I found out I was pregnant. I was so happy.
My tip is: do everything you can to get pregnant, try for a year, and if it still doesn’t work, go to the doctor. You don’t need to be unsure; you’ll see it can still happen after a year.
