Hi ladies,
Quick question: my youngest is almost 19 months old now, but doesn't make many sounds. Just "mama," "daa," "poesje miauw" (kitty meow), "hondje woef" (doggy woof), "gepoepd heeft bah" (pooped bah)... and also stays close to me.
Do you have this experience too????

Not yet. But mostly mama (to me and dad and grandma and every other mom). Some words, not perfectly pronounced yet, but there: sit, close, out, bah, cheeks (especially when it's about cleaning), tatoo (car), teten (eating). (B)apple, d(r)ove, (ba)nana. And lots of animal sounds. Nothing else really.

My son started talking from 24 months when he went to daycare 2 mornings a week. Every child develops at their own pace

I think there's just a lot of difference between kids, and actually he/she can already say a few words. Maybe it helps that he's the youngest, so an older brother or sister picks up on things faster for him when he points at something, for example? My nephew has that too, and by the way, he also walks around with a pacifier in his mouth, but his sisters pick up everything for him right away as soon as he makes a sound. He doesn't talk as much as my daughter does now, quite a bit less even. But my daughter is our oldest, so she has to make herself clear. I wouldn't worry too much at this age; who knows, he might start talking non-stop soon. My daughter is 22 months old and has really started picking up speed in the last month, so before you know it, she'll be talking your ear off.
