How soon after Mirena?

Hi everyone,

On 7/12 I had my Mirena coil removed. I had a little bit of spotting for a few days after (probably just some leftover from the removal), but I don't think it was a period. I think I had one the week before. With the coil in, my periods stopped, but I still got regular cramps and PMS symptoms, so I guessed that meant it was time of the month

We're trying to conceive now, but I have no idea how my cycle works. How long is it, when should I expect my period, etc...

I had a coil before, but I got pregnant immediately after it was removed. So I never got my period back then, and I can't compare. Normally I should be getting my period around now. I've had typical period symptoms since Friday/Saturday: cramps, headache, back pain, heavy legs. But NO blood at all.

I tried tracking my ovulation for almost a whole month with no result. I was never fertile.

I've also taken a pregnancy test, but it was negative.

But maybe I'm just too early, because I don't know when my period is actually supposed to come. Maybe I'm already menstruating, but since I had the coil for so long, I don't have any bleeding? Maybe I just have cramps and this is more PMS.

So my question to the ex-Mirena users: how was it for you? What were your first periods like after the coil? Did your cycle take time to get going or not at all? Because normally your cycle just continues with a coil, right? Did you have a lot of blood or very little?

I'm asking like 100 questions at once, sorry! But I just want to read experience stories. So I know what to expect, because this is driving me crazy.

    Hi,
Totally gettable. I also had the feeling that things were getting going faster after removing my IUD than after years of pill use, but it still took a few months.
I also had some brown discharge after removal, then a period after 3 weeks, and another 3 weeks later. I think I didn’t ovulate during those periods.
My IUD was removed in March, and it wasn’t until June that I felt my cycle was okay. Unfortunately, still not pregnant.
Hope it goes more smoothly for you. Good luck!

It's so frustrating! You just have no idea what your cycle is like, and therefore no idea when you should start trying!

But did you bleed 3 weeks after having the IUD removed?

Because I'm saying it, I've been walking around for almost 5 days now with typical period cramps but not a drop of blood. But I just read online that many people bleed a lot the first time after having an IUD removed.

I had my IUD removed right after my period. After the removal, I bled for another 4 days. 28 days later, I got my normal cycle back. So for me, I started counting only after those extra 4 days of bleeding.
