Pregnancy after copper IUD

LienGuest ·
Hi girls,
I have a 2-year-old daughter, born at 37 weeks due to HELLP syndrome.
Fortunately, everything is fine with me and my daughter is healthy.
On Monday, I'm having my copper IUD removed and hoping to get pregnant again soon.
Are there any girls here who have experience getting pregnant after having a copper IUD?
Can it take longer?
Love,

    Hi Lien,
I also had a copper IUD between my two daughters. I had it removed, and they advised me to wait one cycle so my uterus could recover normally. The next cycle, I was already pregnant... So it can happen quickly.
    Good luck with getting pregnant!

    Oh wow, that's definitely fast!
With my daughter, I was pregnant right away, and now I'm expecting my period any day now, and hopefully a positive test next month! Enjoy your pregnancy!

Thank you! I hope you get to hold a positive test soon
    Best, Joyce

    Hi Joyce,
One more question. How was your period after having your copper IUD removed?
I had it taken out last Monday, and I was supposed to get my period yesterday, but nothing so far?
    Greetings

I have to think really hard, because it was almost 4 years ago, but I think it was less intense than with the IUD.
It was still on time though. But I have/had a very regular cycle.
I'd wait a bit more calmly, maybe because of the big step in your life, it'll come a little later?

Yeah, I don't really understand it all that much. I always have a very regular cycle either. Well, we'll just wait and see. Maybe it'll stay away a bit longer now that the IUD is out. We'll see. Thanks for your answer anyway.
    Cheers

Yeah, that could also work! I'm curious, let me know if you decide to go for it ?
    Cheers!

In principle, the copper IUD has nothing to do with it taking longer. It doesn't contain any hormones. It's more likely due to stress, etc. I got pregnant right away after having the copper IUD removed the first time (one period) and after 2-3 months the second time (three periods; I'm not sure if I should count the first time since it was removed in the middle of my cycle).

That's what I like about the copper IUD: it lets your natural cycle continue as much as possible.

    Thanks for your message!
Were you on your period right away again?
I'm now 4 days late, even though I always have a 28-day cycle.

After removing my copper IUD, there was no change in my period or cycle. I got pregnant in the third round.
One advantage of this kind of IUD is that it doesn't involve hormones, so it doesn't affect your cycle either. It just prevents pregnancy. So in principle, everything remains the same afterward, but of course, factors like your own condition, stress, or hormones can have an influence.

Here, on July 19th I had my IUD removed and on July 20th my period started. I'm as of Saturday 4 weeks pregnant. I tested early last Monday due to the many symptoms and it was positive. The tests are now going up daily. So it can happen very quickly.
With my first, I was also pregnant the first month and with the second, the second month.
I must say that I prefer using contraception. I didn't use it in the first month when I was trying for the second and did use it in the second month and got pregnant right away. With the first, I also used it right away the first time.

Wow, that’s indeed super fast. Congratulations!!! I had my IUD removed on July 22, got my period on August 3, and should get it again in about 2–2.5 weeks. My cycle was always 28–29 days, but the last one was 32 days. I assume this means I’m in my fertile window, based on my last cycle. Hopefully, my period stays away and I get a positive test With my first daughter, I got pregnant in the second month, so let’s hope it goes just as quickly this time???? Congratulations again and have a lovely pregnancy. Best wishes.

How exciting, Lien! I'm cheering for you!

Wow!! I agree, and it’s quite exciting too. Did you have HELLP syndrome with the first one???????
    But we’re going for it!
