Tips for starting with ovulation tests

Hi, I'm Jenny, and my partner and I are trying for our first baby. It's all so exciting and fun! We're starting to use ovulation tests, but I'd love some tips or experiences from people about how long it took them to get pregnant using these tests. I've got mine from the Action, and now we're waiting until July 31st, hopefully my first fertile day. I used to have a 28-day cycle, but for the past two months, it's been 36 days. Any nice tips or facts for a beginner like me???? Warm regards

Hi Jenny, with my first two kids I got pregnant right away and didn’t use any tests. With the third one I was pregnant right away without tests too, but that ended in a miscarriage. After that we tried for half a year with no result. Then we used ovulation tests from Action and got pregnant right away. I don’t know if it was because of that. I actually think my body had recovered from the curettage by then.

I’d recommend you start testing a week after your period. That gives you a clear picture of your cycle. If the test line is as dark or darker than the control line, it’s positive. When I got a dark test I tested again in the evening. It was even darker then. That’s when I knew for sure it was positive that day. I tested every day around 12 pm (it just happened to be during our vacation so that was easy). After a positive test you ovulate within 1 to 2 days. The days before ovulation you’re already fertile because sperm can live longer in your uterus.

    Good luck!

    Hi Sofie,
Thanks for your reply! Good tips. One question, do you mean testing 2 weeks after the first day of your period or the last?
    Greetings, Jenny

Corrected: 1 week after the first day of menstruation, or the last day of menstruation, I mean of course!

Hi Jenny, one week after the first day of your period. Then, with a regular cycle, the fertile week begins.
