hey girls,

I'm so nervous, only 17 days left until I get married. I'm trying to stay as calm as possible and not stress too much, but that's pretty hard when you're thinking about everything.

Especially the idea of whether everything will turn out okay, and even worse, will I still fit into my dress! I hope so, otherwise I have a big problem.

And then I also have such a nice little brother who just doesn't know what he wants. He has a new girlfriend, you can get along well with her, but then he breaks up with her because he's going back to his ex-girlfriend, which I'm also fine with luckily, and she's the mother of my cute nephew. But now I'm in a dilemma because if I invite those girls and not the other, they'll look at me with awkward faces. pppfff, no idea what I should say to my nephew's mother, so sister-in-law and now my ex-sister-in-law?

Hope you still understand hihi

Just needed to get it off my chest and maybe you know what I could do.

Love, Chantal

Thank you so much, girl. Reading this really did me good.

I can relate to your story too. My parents are also divorced, and my mom and dad just run away from each other and try to outdo each other everywhere. They can never act like mature adults and get along normally, and they always drag us into their fights. That’s why I don’t speak to my dad anymore. I did send him an SMS because I have no idea where he lives now, hoping to get in touch with him since I really want him at my wedding. Unfortunately, he didn’t reply. If my little brother needs him or something, he does respond a bit, but I can’t force him to come. Unfortunately.

My boyfriend’s father passed away, and his mother remarried a wonderful man.

I hope your mother-in-law can just put things aside with your father-in-law for one day, because I think there’s nothing nicer than seeing your grandchild come into the world. Otherwise, I think they’re not handling the situation maturely. A bit sad, of course, but maybe your mother-in-law could come at a different time if they can’t put this aside for a bit. Otherwise, it’s a shame for her, but I think I’d get tired of it quickly, just like you two.

I know what you’re going through right now and completely understand why you’re done with it all. I feel the same with my parents, and my mom is the one who constantly paints my dad black to me. So I told her that I’m inviting him, and if he wants to come, he’s welcome. That’s tough luck for her, but he’s still my dad, and I have nothing to do with their fights.

I’m going to tell my little brother’s girlfriend and my sister-in-law that they can come, and I’ll let them know that both girls are coming, and hopefully, they can act normally for just one day.

I want to thank you so much for your kind words, and I hope everything works out for you too, and that your mother-in-law’s stubbornness disappears once the little one is here.

Just a few more weeks, and then you’ll have the little one in your arms, and you’ll know why everything was worth it.

Lots of love, and thanks again.

    Love, Chantal

    First of all, congratulations!!

As for your dilemma, I'd just invite both of them. You've got a bond with your ex-sister-in-law. That's reason enough for an invitation! And your new sister-in-law belongs with your brother.
Both girls surely have enough sense to behave themselves nicely for those few hours
Don't stress, everything will surely go fine (easier said than done, of course)

Wishing you lots of luck and a fantastic day!
    Love, Sandra

    Hi Chantal,

    Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
We're just a few weeks away (minus one day) from our turn.
I still need to find a dress, but I'm sure it'll work out.
I'm not going for a white dress (it's my second time, and we don't feel the need to do that anymore), so I'll definitely find something else.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that those girls will enjoy it for you!

Nice and handy, it should be 4 weeks...

@Danivan congrats sis enjoy your day too hihi..
    Love

    @Chantal
yeah it's just not doable with parents nowadays...
my father-in-law handles this very maturely and just ignores the mother-in-law so it's proper but she pff.. she said immediately when we told her we were pregnant yeah I'm not coming to the hospital he! I might come by once later if I feel like it! sorry but you just don't do this! she has only had 2 children one of whom probably will never have kids because of her health! and then you can't make an effort for your only son who is becoming a dad. my father-in-law already said yeah but I'll text when I want to come and then angelo can make sure his mother comes before or after he she doesn't need to see me at all..but you know eventually there will come a day they have to face each other he and it's very sad that adults can't put this aside for their children! and it's like they always say if parents divorce it's always the children who suffer the most! to my sister-in-law she even said if she was going to say they were engaged ah yeah I don't know if I'll come after your wedding if your dad is there you're unlucky then I won't come and stay home.. sorry saying that to your own daughter hurts though.. they are and remain her parents and she has every right that both parents are present just like you! and if one doesn't come because the other is there they're unlucky... it's our days actually he sis and we have to make the best of it! and anything else at that moment or thinking can be stolen! and especially at a wedding!! then you really have to shine and the evening is then only in the spotlight of the two of you.

hope you hear something from your dad maybe you can try to communicate via your little brothers maybe it's a bit childish for him to use the postman but that way you might still get some response from him he and know where you stand!!
think it's super that you invite both ladies and think they'll show you respect it's ultimately as sandra says but for a few hours and they don't have to sit next to or opposite each other

We'll show who the adults are... I sometimes really want to bang heads against a wall because amaai he

yeah another 10-11 weeks here and then our girl is finally here time will fly looking forward to it! hope she takes a lot of stress away from my friend's parents and that his mother wants to put her pride aside for once... Okay she's been through a lot with her ex just like my mother but everyone has to be able to give it a place and move on and wish each other happiness. I'm really glad my parents have come back together! hope from the bottom of my heart that this also happens with my friend's parents! and also with your parents.. because it hurts he when someone paints one of your parents so black after all those years.

    Lots of love and hugs
if anything let me know you can always leave a message

Yeah, indeed, what you're saying is that we show we're adults, unfortunately not everyone is always like that. I'd ask my little brother if he wants to have a chat with my dad so I can get a bit of an idea of how things work.

According to me, we were due around the same time; I still have about 11 weeks to go.

Thanks for your support, girl. If you want to share something or need someone to listen to you, you can always send me a PM.

    Love, Chantal
  7. chantal26 started this #8

Yeah, I did invite both of them, so I hope they have the decency to act normally around each other.

We'll see, 2 more weeks and then it's time.
  8. Mommy-Of-Nyana #9

Hi Chantal Yes, I think we calculated the same date.. I'm between Jan 14 and 21
The first count came out as Jan 14 and the second as Jan 21.. because I was already about 3 months pregnant they couldn't count it accurately so I'm somewhere around those two dates.. so I'm also still 10-11 weeks away
How is your pregnancy going because the last stretch is there he here it's starting to get really heavy! pelvic pain especially.. and getting short of breath and since last night always such a stabbing pain exactly in my left side where our baby is I went to the doctor and he thinks that our baby is lying wrong somewhere or that he bruised my rib last night that's why I get such a stab with every movement.. but well we all take that with pleasure he
and that's very gladly done by the support! it's not always easy for divorced parents to have... or divorced in-laws haha... or brothers who don't know what they want he
but try indeed once through your brother to ask your dad so you know where you stand he.. and you have a bit of an idea for your party he or you should take into account that he comes or not..
well keep me updated if you heard something from your father!

    Lots of love

yes I'm also around the 21st of january, so I think we're around the same time. nice joh

yes indeed divorced parents can sometimes be really exhausting and brothers too, especially when they don't know what they want.

oh wow ouch so that little one still hurt you too, nice and friendly haha, hope it gets less, and this lady is growing nicely too so mama can hardly do anything anymore so that's going well haha but we're all willing to do it for it, I'd do it again even though I have quite a lot of trouble with my pelvis and stuff, no need to think about it for a second.

I heard from my mom that my brother talked to my dad and that he indicated that there was little chance he would come to my wedding (first he already said that I fell on my head or something to go get married or something) and he is afraid that there will be a fight or something.

a bit sad and it does sting a bit, you're finally happy and then your dad doesn't support it at all.

but well it'll be fine I'm a big girl and it wouldn't be up to me if he regrets it later or if that little one is here I'd just tell him that little one is still his granddaughter no matter what he thinks.

and yes girl you know exactly how I feel and that's nice to have someone on the forum who knows what it's like to have divorced parents.

    thanks again

take it easy hey, keep me updated on how it's going with you and the little one.

    lots of love chantal

  13. Dani #14

    Hi Tammi,

Thanks a lot, girl, but we all deserve that, right?
I'm lucky to have found someone who's actually doing it!!!
We're going to make something beautiful out of it, my mom is already making arrangements, it's going to turn out great.
The wedding was supposed to be a quick thing in between, but when you see what you can organize in a short time?
It's going to be more than just "a quick thing in between" and we both deserve that with our amazing kids by our side!!

    Love, Dani

How nice, such a "new" group that will remain once our predecessors have given birth!
I was due on January 19th, well, they just said it's the 22nd now, but okay, we'll see when the little one shows up, we'll hear and feel!!
  15. tammi #16

    @dani,
yeah, a small group, huh? My due date was originally January 4th, but now it's already January 8th.
Yeah, we'll see when it happens.
We'll keep following the rest because they're almost here too.

    ps: thanks for your message

    good luck again

    love, tammi

Thank you, Tammi! And yes, we have a nice little group where everyone is due around the same time, so it's exciting—it's January.
