Hesitation about a girl's name

Hi everyone,

Just a few more weeks to go until our girl arrives, and we're still unsure about the name. We had agreed on a name and I still think it's beautiful, but you hear it quite often.

Recently, I came across another name whose meaning we really love. However, it sounds very similar to the name of my step-sister's son. His name is Eli (pronounced like Elie). The name we're now considering also starts with Eli... But the special thing is that you hardly ever hear it. We're afraid, though, that she won't appreciate it and it might cause some fuss . What would you do? Stick with the first name or...?

It depends on what comes next... if the i is likely to be pronounced as a j, it doesn't really matter...

@moeder04: The name is Eliva.. so you pronounce it as (elieva)

And what was the name you had first?

Looks like it does indeed. Maybe you should open it up to your family?

And if you were to go for another name, maybe Livia is a nice option? Or Iliva? It has a different sound, right.

Looks like it does... would she find that annoying? We had a name for a boy and then my partner's brother had a baby boy four months earlier and it was the same name. I was so annoyed... eventually found another nice name but when we told his brother later he said 'I would have just chosen the same name anyway! Who cares?'
