Having sex around ovulation

Hi babble members, my partner and I have been trying to conceive for a few months now. It hasn't worked out in the first few rounds, and now I'm wondering when and with what frequency is the best advice to have sex around ovulation. The advantage is that I usually feel my ovulation and am regular. So I can determine the moment quite well. (I could still get one of those tests for extra certainty.) Also, I read that both partners climaxing might have a positive effect, is it a myth or true?

I did my own ovulation tests, but I had sex every other day before they turned positive, until I was sure the ovulation had happened.
And yeah, I also read that it's good if the woman orgasms, but I always did that anyway.

With a positive ovulation test, we have sex for 3 days in a row. Otherwise, whenever we feel like it.

Here around ovulation every other day. Both of you climaxing isn't a must, okay. They really swim up on their own.

Haha, thank you both. More positive experiences/tips are always welcome, of course.

Both climaxing seems to really help, but then the woman has to come right after the man. Still figuring out how to make that work!

    Indeed... easier said than done

    hey hey,
there are so many women who don't get orgasms through penetration and still get pregnant really quickly, you know.
Don't let your head get too worked up
I think you guys are having sex frequently, it's kind of like Russian roulette in the end. If you're still unsure, I'd suggest using ovulation tests, then you'll be 100% sure and it'll give you a bit more control over the situation.

You don't have to have an orgasm from penetration either, I've never had one either. It can happen in other ways too.
But it's indeed not the most important thing.

No, I get it, Lelifee. Luckily, I usually know exactly when I ovulate, but the test could maybe give a little extra confirmation. It makes sense that it's not required for you to orgasm to get pregnant, but if it can help, it's interesting, of course. Does anyone know if the timing matters?

Eline, the orgasm should ideally come just after the man. That way, the sperm are positioned near the cervix, which dips into them and helps guide the sperm in the right direction. I think those studies are still in early stages, and they have the idea that it might help, but what other girls say is that it's not a requirement! Same story with the Leiden study about women who gave oral sex and got pregnant easier or had fewer miscarriages. The idea there was that by giving blowjobs, the woman's immune system "gets used to" foreign substances, so it wouldn't reject the sperm as quickly around ovulation.

Ah okay, if it can already have an influence, preferably after the man, so I get that. And I've never heard of that second test haha, pretty bizarre.

It did help me in the end!
  13. Lindaa1989 #14

You never know in hindsight if it helped
  14. Eline #15

Well ladies, I followed your advice. Did the ovulation test and then got to work. Now the waiting game begins again.
  15. Lelifee #16

@eline, it's already happening for me again with the help of ovulation tests, 3 months after the miscarriage

    Is je gegund! Succes!

I also read that it helps if you do it right after he finishes. And what was already said, that doesn't have to happen through penetration, of course! Did it work for you?
  18. Eline #19

Yeah, I stayed lying down for a bit afterwards and then he gave a little 'help'. During penetration it doesn't work out. As I already wrote, now the waiting game has begun. From other ladies here I understood that it's not a 'must', but who knows, every little bit helps.

    Good luck Eline!
