Stress

We've been trying for our first baby for 2 months now. No luck so far. It's giving me so much stress because I'm thinking about it way too much. And I really don't want that anymore. I'm anxious it'll take years. What contraception is nice? I had the coil removed 3 months ago, I don't want that again. Any experiences with the contraceptive pill?

I don't quite get it, girl? You want a baby but you're still on contraception?
Let go of it, it's not easy (I should know, after 2 years and 8 months), but it really is the best solution!
And every gynecologist will tell you that a normal, healthy couple always needs 6 months to a year before further tests are done.

I’ve had an anxiety disorder myself and I’m happily over it now. After getting the IUD removed, we started trying to get pregnant, but unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out yet. It’s only been two months, but I’m already getting anxious again, thinking it’ll never happen or that it’ll take years. After the IUD was removed, I had an internal ultrasound to check everything, but they didn’t mention anything unusual like PCOS or anything like that... I guess they would’ve told me if there was something?

Well, they should've told you that already, girl.. just stay calm

    Hi Celinatje,
If nothing unusual was seen during the check-up, I’d give it a bit more time. Sounds easier said than done, but stress and tension don’t make it any easier.
And as stff48 already said, give it 6 to 12 months.
After that, further research can always be done if it doesn’t work out.
I’m rooting for you!! Stay calm and try to let it go. Spend less time thinking about it. That might bring a bit more peace of mind. And just see each month as a fresh start.

Thank you for your wise words! I’m definitely going to let it go too. I’m now 2 days overdue but have a negative test. I’ve got all sorts of symptoms: tiredness, cramps in my belly, a heavy feeling in my stomach. But we’ll see.

Hi Celina, try to remind yourself that it could take a year, and that’s completely normal (as the ladies above have already said). But don’t start the month with the idea: this month it’s going to work, it has to work... Go into the month with the mindset that this is just one of many chances. I understand that you’re feeling unsure, I’ve been there too, but that thought really helped me this month. I stopped using contraception in April, and now I’m already thinking of April next year as a possible chance instead of “this month it has to happen.” What also helped me was talking to my partner and putting things into perspective together. Good luck!

So relatable that you overthink too much, I do that too! But Käthe has a good approach; look a year ahead and if it feels right, use test strips. That way you at least know when your egg is. And use an app, it's really nice to note down everything that's important to you. Love!
