Pregnancy discrimination

Hi ladies, I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced the following or what you would do. Two weeks ago, I had a job interview that went very enthusiastically. Honestly, it was the job of my dreams. A week later, I got a call saying I was hired and invited to a terms and conditions meeting. That was yesterday. We went through the contract (which was already prepared), and I thought it was proper to mention that I am 12 weeks pregnant before signing. I felt I couldn't do it after signing, and you don't start off on the right foot during the probation period if you do. Now, this employer reacted very poorly and a bit grumpily. He went to discuss, came back, and told me that I couldn't work for them and that I could leave. I was so overwhelmed and still am. What do you think about this?

Absolutely not fair, but that's just how society works these days.

ps. I'm actually dealing with the same problem. I got a contract that starts on September 1st and I'm also 8 weeks pregnant. I can't bring myself to sign it and then suddenly show up with a big belly, but I'm pretty sure that if I tell them, I won't get the contract. I still have until Tuesday to think about it.

this is really not okay. you can file a police report.

I’d stand up for yourself here and report it, or maybe even ask the company why it suddenly can’t happen. You probably also have correspondence saying you’d be accepted or something. I’d definitely keep all that and, indeed, file a complaint for pregnancy discrimination.
