Cute girl's name?

Hello moms,

I'm currently expecting a girl and I'd really like a unique girl's name. I've been thinking about the name Mae-Leau (pronounced like Mee-Lo). What do you think of this name? Is it cute or a bit too cutesy?

I hope you can help me out.

    I think it sounds nice! Although it immediately reminds me of Merlot, probably because of the pronunciation. If it were Mae-Lou, for example, it would sound completely different.

    I think the sound is nice, but I don't like the spelling with ae and ea as much. Mae has a nice spelling though.

    I think it's a bit of a mangling of mei-lu.
    I do think Mae is nice. But I don't get "Leau" as a name (it just reminds me of the French word for water).

    I get Sofie's point, Mae-Lou does sound a bit different from Mae-Leau. The spelling with 'ea' takes some getting used to too. Mae-Lou feels a bit lighter, Mae-Leau a bit more rigid. But in the end, you choose how you want to pronounce it. If you say it as Mae-Lou, it works too.
