When to test, can't hold back anymore

I had my LH peak on May 19th. I should be getting my period on Saturday or Sunday. So I have a shorter luteal phase than the usual 14 days. When can I test now? I already did a test yesterday, yeah I know it was way too early, it was super negative. Is May 30th too early to test?
And how do you keep yourself busy so you don't keep thinking about whether it worked or not...

What do you mean by "za-zo" for your period this weekend? Or June 1-2? If you mean this weekend, your LFP is only 5-6 days. That's really too short. If you mean June, then you have a nice LFP. I know that until 8/9 DPO a test will bring doubt, so I only test after that or really on 9 DPO. My LFP was only 9 days, on 10 DPO I got my period. So when I didn't get my period on 10 DPO (negative 25miu test), I did a Kruidvat test on 11 DPO that clearly indicated pregnant. But I was really strict with my LFP. The LH peak sometimes varied. That I knew there wouldn't be much clarity if I tested early helped me wait a bit. But those tests are so cheap that I just removed the doubt for that one day by testing. Just do what feels right and gives peace.

Do you mean the upcoming weekend, June 1st/2nd I think I'll try to test at 9 dpo. And if I can't hold back, then maybe at 8 dpo.
Oh, so you did get pregnant despite a short LH surge. That's nice to read, since my LH surge is probably 10 days long. My peak was May 19th, but the egg only pops out 12-48 hours later. Did it work out right away for you?

With my daughter, my luteal phase was only 10 days too. When I finally found out I was pregnant with her, I tested one day before my expected period and it was negative. Even if you have a short luteal phase, the egg still needs time to implant. I think with a shorter luteal phase, the egg implants closer to your expected period, so you can't test 5 days before your expected period like you sometimes can with a 14-day luteal phase.

I'd really wait until your expected period. If you test earlier, there's a big chance the test will be negative, even though that doesn't guarantee anything, but it's still disappointing. And if you test positive, there could still be issues, which might make you feel really down (early miscarriage) compared to just getting your period.

You'll have to decide for yourself in the end.

I was in my 5th month pregnant. So the first 4 didn't work out. This was after giving birth to our (stillborn) son. I gave birth to him on April 22nd and was pregnant again by early November. So quite fast, actually. For our son, I was already pregnant in the second round after using the pill, so I have no idea what my LFL was then

@Puck and Im. Thanks for your replies! I find the time going by so slowly, pffff. I hope I can hold out today, testing doesn't make sense yet. Tomorrow I'll probably try one, or else Wednesday. Last night before going to bed I went to the toilet and noticed some cervical mucus, just a bit darker than usual. I thought, huh, am I going to menstruate almost a week early? This is so frustrating...

How long have you been busy with it?

This is attempt number 3. But it feels like forever. I've wanted kids for a while, but my husband wasn't ready yet. Never thought getting pregnant would be so hard. Last round, I got a very faint positive test, but then I got my period. Hope this time it sticks! How long have you been trying? And do you already have kids?

I have one daughter. I was pregnant again in round 4, but unfortunately, it ended in a miscarriage two weeks ago.
Veer, try to stay calm and don't test too early. Chat in the NOD topics so you can share your frustration a bit. I hope it works out for you soon, but there's also a chance you'll have to wait for months. And if you're dealing with this every month, you won't last long!
Good luck. I'm rooting for you.

Oh, that's so sad about the miscarriage I hope you get pregnant again soon!
You're right. But I'm not naturally someone who can let things go. I've tried and it went well before ovulation. But once you're sitting on that waiting bench, it goes wrong... I also notice that it's starting to control my life and that period is all about waiting. Thanks for your tip, I'll take a look!
