Ovulation after miscarriage

Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage on April 13th. I only found out at 11 weeks that the baby had stopped growing around 6 weeks (right after our first scan where everything looked fine). But now I'm wondering when my ovulation will return. I started testing on Thursday and saw a faint line, but it wasn't as clear as the control line. Friday was the same. After testing yesterday and today, I can barely see a line at all! Can it vary this much? I have no idea if I've ovulated or not. I've had some stabbing pains on the lower left side since Thursday. I always had a 28-day cycle before the pregnancy, so counting from my miscarriage, I thought I'd ovulate this weekend. I always used CB ovulation tests before, so I have no experience with the Action brand ones. But buying one CB test every time to check when I ovulate is a bit pricey

Wow, that’s intense with your MC, sounds like it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Have you taken a pregnancy test again to check if you don’t have any hCG left in your body? For me, it took 4 weeks after my last period before I ovulated again—I normally have a 28-day cycle. So your cycle can be a bit off. I did get pregnant right away though.

Hey Moedertjuh, thanks for your reply.
I guess I don’t have much hcg left in my body, but they’re going to take blood tomorrow to check. But even if you still have hcg in your body, that doesn’t prevent a new pregnancy, said my doctor. Let’s hope it works out quickly for me too.

Hi Anneke, the lines can vary in "darkness" depending on when you test and how much you've drunk. But as your ovulation approaches, you'll really get a very dark test line almost immediately.

After 1.5 weeks of testing, still no positive ovulation test. I'm getting a bit hopeless Maybe I'm not ovulating this month because of my miscarriage and need to recover? Any experiences?

It really does happen, as I already wrote. With me, it also took more than 4 weeks after my missed period before I had ovulation. I had a missed period at the end of November last year and only got a positive ovulation test on December 28th. Sometimes your body needs a little time to get back into hormonal balance.

Didn't you get hopeless from all that waiting? I'm so scared that I won't ovulate.

Yeah, that’s true, and normally I always feel ovulation. Not this cycle. But at the ultrasound before that FSH test, they found out I had cysts on both ovaries, so I had to go to the gynecologist for a check-up. They also saw a thickening uterine lining, so I knew it was coming. By the way, the cysts went away on their own. And on my birthday, I got a nice positive ovulation test. With our youngest daughter as the result. So our patience was rewarded.

I find it so hard to wait patiently I had a check-up on April 23 to see if my uterus was clean after the miscarriage, and it was. She told me I didn't need to come back for another check-up. She also checked my ovaries, and they were fine, and she didn't see any ovulation yet. I never felt my ovulation before the miscarriage. But your story gives me hope that maybe I'll still get an ovulation

Yeah, just keep going, it'll really work out

    Thanks, Mommy

Hey, our stories are similar in different ways. On April 10th, I had a sudden miscarriage at 9 weeks pregnant because the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks and there was no heartbeat anymore.
The ultrasound looked fine, but I had bleeding for 14 days. On May 10th, I got a very heavy period that lasted 7 days (normally 3-4 days). Now I'm waiting for an egg. I can barely keep my eyes open. Some days it looks a bit, other days nothing. Still no peak like before.
  12. Anneke #13

@lelifee. The message for us is to wait and see Did you find ovulation in the weeks after the miscarriage? On May 10th I had brown discharge, on May 15th my period came through. A bit heavier than my period before my 'pregnancy' but also just 4 days like usual. I'm back to testing after my period but so far no ovulation yet. Today the line was a bit clearer than the past few days, so hopefully it's going up nicely now.

After the miscarriage, I bled for a long time, so maybe I did have an egg, but it wasn't ideal anyway. Just tested again and now it's even thicker The problem is that we're going to a family weekend from Thursday and we have shared rooms. And I'm really not going to skip a test there or I'll be pissed all weekend
  14. Anneke #15

Haha same here! We're also going away with the parents from Thursday to Saturday. No shared rooms, but the walls are incredibly thin and the beds creak. So if I get a positive test, it'll have to happen one way or another Do you test multiple times a day? I only do it in the afternoon.

Oh ladies, I feel so bad for you. It would be quite something if you wait for weeks and then end up at your mother-in-law's room with a positive test. *snicker* But seriously: I would really be upset about that. I hope it works out well for you anyway.

    Hey,
We went on a weekend trip and still managed to cuddle twice. (*hiking in the woods with a 2*) Not exactly ideal if I remember my teenage years correctly Today there was a nice line on the ovulation test, though not 100% positive yet. Just tested and no line, but I had already drunk too much water :/ Still going to keep cuddling and hoping!! It's hitting her pretty hard, sigh pffdf

On Thursday I had a strong positive on the early tests, and since Thursday I’ve had 4 days of high fertility with the Clearblue. Since Saturday, though, the line on the early test has been fading, but the Clearblue still shows high fertility. So I’m not sure what to expect now. Will I still get a peak with the Clearblue or not, and if so, does that mean I’ve already ovulated? So it’s patience practice again. I was so happy about the high fertility, but now that it’s been 4 days, I’m starting to get a bit crazy. Especially since the other test is contradicting it

I also gave you a big smiley on my Ovutest.
Just hugged it well but still with the help of some lubricant. Now I read that that's not good :/
I'm already happy that I have a cycle again. But I hope that the next 2 weeks go by quickly and I can start testing...
  19. Anneke #20

I went to my GP because I’ve had “high fertility” for 5 days with the CB test but no peak yet, and with the Sensitest only a clear positive on Thursday. He thinks I won’t get a peak this cycle since it’s been high for so long. That I just haven’t produced enough LH to trigger ovulation. My world has crumbled again—why isn’t it working like it’s supposed to?
