Second baby

Hello lovely ladies, I'm completely new here. I've been wanting a second baby for a while now. My first son also took a long time to arrive, but he finally came naturally after a short break with Clomid. Meanwhile, it's been nearly 4 years and we've been trying for another year and a half.

I'm now on my 4th round with Clomid again, and this time with 2 pills. In my previous rounds, I had breast pain and light spotting a week before my period. But this time, nothing... I did have a stomach bug about a week before my expected period and felt quite nauseous, but otherwise nothing. Are there any other ladies whose Clomid side effects vary from month to month?

Thanks for your responses xxx

    Hi Mimi,

I myself used Clomid for several months before switching to Puregon.
This was on the advice of my gynecologist.
For me, the complaints/symptoms were different each month, but the one thing that always came back was tender breasts.

I hope this helps you out a bit.

    Best wishes, Ivy

    Hi Ivyb,

Thanks for your reply. Ah, okay, I do have some of that too. I do get sore breasts every cycle as usual, but not this time either. It's annoying when you can't rely on your body.

Have you had any results from your medication yet?

    Greetings, Mimi

    Good morning Mimi,

It's nice that you can handle it.

I have a medical background, so I dove into Clomid. This was related to endometriosis, which I had surgery for in July 2016. After getting an infection, there was an emergency surgery, and I finally recovered in December 2016. I started with the natural route. After 3 months, I had another really crappy cycle, so I went back to the hospital for tests, and it turned out my ovulations were absent or sometimes present, which led me into the medical mill.

I used Clomid for 7 months and then switched to Puregon injections, and I have to say that was quite intense. Additionally, I took Pregnyl every month to trigger ovulation, so Puregon for growth and the other for the jump When that didn't help either, we decided to try naturally again

We looked at the options available to us (meaning hospital closures) and some treatments were no longer available at our local hospital. Travel times became impossible for us. We chose IUI, knowing it was the only option left for our desire for children. This was because there wasn't much change for me personally regarding hormone injections. The main change is that it became clinical, so my partner had to provide his sample, and 1.5 hours later, I had to report to the hospital for the procedure. The important thing was that everything could still be done at our local hospital.

And on the first attempt, we got lucky And it was a double jackpot because I'm now pregnant with twins

I would really discuss with your gynecologist and your partner what makes sense and what the options are. Also, consider where you both feel comfortable. Because those hormones can sometimes be really tough. My side effects were more pronounced than with Clomid.

    Best wishes, Ivy

Hi Ivy! That's so nice, congrats!! A double miracle. Enjoy it!
Yes, I've indeed been going to the gynecologist since November. Now I do have to admit that I had a tough year and that stress probably played its part in why we're not there yet.
My son came naturally, so the gynecologist only wanted to do further tests after 5 attempts with Clomid. So if it doesn't work this time, she'll continue with further investigations.
Today is my period day. I'm curious what it'll bring. ????

Mimi, thank you so much. It's still a bit awkward, you know.

    Oh, that's indeed quite exciting...

Indeed, stress is a damn thing when you want to get pregnant.

Your body isn't really cooperating anyway, and stress only makes it worse.
    I'm rooting for you..!

    Hey Ivyb

I totally get that! But it'll all work out perfectly ???????? must be quite exciting with two little sprouts in the world.

    Hey Mimi,

If you have any questions, feel free to message me anytime

    Yeah, it's pretty nerve-wracking...
I'm already busy in my head figuring out where to put all the stuff hahaha...
The overview of what we still need is already done..
It's just the whole house renovation, both downstairs and upstairs hahaha
That's what I'm looking forward to the least

    Hey Mimi,

Yes, it's definitely exciting and also fun.
    Setting up and shopping hahaha..
Emptying the house is a bit less fun.

Oh, with Clomid and later the hormone injections, I finally got a normal cycle again.
I'd wait a bit longer and otherwise contact your gynecologist.

No, we don't know the gender yet.
I'm currently 11 weeks along and we want to know the gender at the 20-week scan.

It's more about the guest room that needs to be cleared out
There are quite a few items stored there, as it's also used for storage besides being a guest room
So the real work lies in sorting through, clearing out, and taking things away etc...
But well, it'll happen naturally.. We'll start after Easter.
