Axelle or Aurelie

Hi everyone,

We think we're almost there. We were looking for a timeless name with a bit of a French background... Currently we're still deciding between Axelle and Aurélie, which one do you think is prettier?

Neither of them. I expect those names to be ones that get mispronounced.

But oh well, who cares about my opinion? It's your child!!!!

You'd never choose the names my kids have.

I'm also afraid they'll sound too Dutch when pronounced.
    That's why I can't make a choice either.

I think it also depends on your region? Here in Belgium, it's not at all weird to take French names, so if you're from somewhere here, it doesn't seem like such a problem :-)

    Personally, I prefer Axelle :-)

I think Axelle is pretty nice.

Axelle, very pretty! As far as I know, there's only one way to pronounce it.

    Really not.
    Ak-sèl is nice though.
Ak-sel-lu in plain Dutch, so not nice.

Both are lovely! I have a slight preference for Axelle.
Maybe for reassurance, I know an Estelle, an 18-year-old girl, and no one ever mispronounces her name. It's not es-tel-luh, just es-tel. The same will surely apply to Axelle and Aurelie later on.
