Dog suddenly acting weird

Hi there!
I just had a quick question. My in-laws have a dog, and during my pregnancy, he hasn’t done anything out of the ordinary. Now I’m 36.5 weeks pregnant, and he won’t let me out of his sight for a second—he’s following me around, even when I go to the bathroom, and he stays lying or sitting next to me. Could this be a sign that labor has started or is about to start soon?

No idea, but it's the same here! My parents' dogs follow me constantly, and the cats keep coming to lie down with me.

Okay, and that wasn't the case before either?

No, actually not. My cat didn't want anything to do with me at first!

    Maybe??
I've always had a special bond with my parents' dog, but since I became pregnant, it's been even stronger.
But that's been the case for quite a while now...........

They sometimes say that animals can sense this perfectly... who knows!

I guess I should keep an eye on my parents' dog's behavior over the next few weeks
Whether she's going to get even more addicted to me than she already is, or maybe start acting differently again... I'm curious to see!

Yes, I'm curious! I'm okay with it already, haha. It feels so weird that he never did anything different before, and now he suddenly does. What's different compared to last week, for example...

Yeah, I have that with my cat. He's generally such a sweetheart, but the moment I got pregnant, he was really hard to handle. He just had to lie on top of me. He was basically my pregnancy test!
I'm absolutely convinced he could feel it.
After two months, it calmed down a bit, but now it's back again!! He won't leave me alone for a second. Sometimes I get annoyed, but that doesn't stop him at all!!

Here’s our dog, she just did the exact same thing!! At first, she wouldn’t have anything to do with me and stayed as far away from me as she could.. and since I’m 20 weeks pregnant, she keeps hanging around me, wants nothing more than to cuddle and lie on my belly!! Also, no one except my boyfriend is allowed to touch my belly or madam starts grazing there and jumps onto my lap and wraps herself completely around my belly so no one else can get close...
Now I’m cuddling our dog a lot and I’m gradually reducing that out of fear that she’ll react jealously when our girl is born...
But I always thought this had to do with the fact that she was severely abused and neglected for 7 years and never knew any love and now suddenly gets all the love in the world!
But apparently you guys’ animals do this too...

Oh yeah, my sister's French Bulldog got incredibly angry if you even looked at her pregnant belly for too long!!
He even got aggressive if a stranger reached out his hand toward her belly!!
    That was weird to see..

Totally normal, animals just sense it.
During my last pregnancy, the cats always lay at the foot of the bed on the blankets.
For the last 2 weeks, one cat was always tucked in between our pillows, couldn't get her to move from there.
She never did that again after the birth.

Isn't it lovely that your pet can sense it! Very special.

Our dog was acting weird at the beginning of the pregnancy, even before I took a test. She kept whining next to my legs. I took a test and it was positive. Now she seems more distant towards me and sticks to my partner.

Hi Shana, our dog also used to prefer my partner at first. This can turn around nicely Now she's mostly on my side, preferably lying comfortably in my lap with her head on my belly.. but oh, when my partner and strangers want to come near her, she acts all grumpy.. I hope that when our girl arrives, she won't react jealously to her.. I'd find that really tough...

My dog has definitely noticed that something is going on with the lady. She follows everything I do! Dogs can smell the changes in hormonal balance too... maybe that's why?
