Negative blood test, positive pregnancy test. And lots of symptoms! HELP

Hi everyone,

I have a question and hopefully you can help me a bit. I had my first miscarriage last April at 8 weeks. It turned out there wasn't 'really' anything there, so it was also called a false pregnancy. Three months later, I got pregnant again, this time with an embryo visible on the ultrasound, but no heartbeat.. so again, a miscarriage. Both miscarriages were treated with pills.

Since then, I haven't been on the pill anymore (hadn't been for half a year before that either), because my boyfriend and I want this so badly, especially after two failed pregnancies..
Now, the thing is that I get my period regularly, the first day is always on the 22nd, so November 22nd, December 22nd, 2018, and now January 22nd, 2019. However, this past week I've vomited 8 times, mostly when I eat something, and I'm extremely nauseous in the morning. Also, my cigarettes taste different. I took two tests three days ago, one of which was positive after 30 min, and the next one negative.

After some pleading with the GP, I finally got a referral to get blood drawn and tested for HCG (this was on February 12th). They initially didn't want to give me the referral because it would be too early to test given my last period was on January 22nd. Yesterday I got to hear that the result was negative, my HCG level was 2.
I still feel 'weird', and now my question is: could it be that the blood test was performed too 'early'? Or is an HCG level of 2 clear enough?

Hopefully you can help me...

I followed the doctor's advice in this case, but it was way too early. You'd be 8 days before your period then. If a pregnancy test is already negative, a blood test will be too. So why not just wait? Sometimes you just have to be patient, really annoying but that's just how it is...

In principle, you should still get implantation, and only then do you get symptoms. There's also a stomach flu virus going around, so who knows, maybe you just had that.

I agree with Clautjuh. One more tip: if you want to get pregnant, or if you think you might be: stop smoking!

Take a breath. There's so much going on at the moment. If you were pregnant, you wouldn't feel that nauseous. Just tell your doctor.

It's also quite special that you get your period on the same date every month, despite the shorter or longer months.

A line that appears after half an hour? What test was that?

    Hi Clautje,

Yes, I should have waited, and I think you're completely right, it was indeed very early..

    Hi Puck,

Yes, I agree! I was already in the process of weaning and I've decided for myself to stop right away! You're absolutely right.

    And? And? And?
