Alixe or Alexia

Hesitant between 2 names. Alixe or Alexia. We think Alixe is classy, but sometimes sounds a bit harsh. Alexia we find very beautiful, but we sometimes worry that it sounds a bit 'marginal'.. or not?

I think both are beautiful names.
I don't think Alexia sounds marginal at all.

I think Alixe is beautiful, but I would spell it as Alix.

Marginal? Thank you so much, I really do have that name! :-D But no problem. Regarding those 'marginal' names, I've indeed read some about them too, and fortunately, my name doesn't fall into that category. ;-) Not what's considered here in Belgium as 'less classy'. :-) That would mainly refer to English names and/or names ending in -y. I teach, so I can kind of understand that. ;-) By the way, doesn't the Netherlands also have a princess named Alexia? :-)
As a teenager, my friends always called me 'Lexi' or 'Alex'. My parents weren't too happy about that. :-) So that's something to consider. Alix is quite popular here, like many French names. I think it's quite nice.

Haha, how nice that this is a real Alexia. I totally get your reaction; that comment about -y names sounds like typical Belgian language sensibility. I think both Alixe and Alexia work well, it mainly depends on how you pronounce it in your own region. As long as it sounds good to you.
