Clothes

Good afternoon!
I'm now 23 weeks pregnant with a girl, due in early May, and I've started shopping.
But I have a lot of questions:
Which clothes should I buy and how many?
I'm afraid of having too much or just not enough.
Many people have told me not to buy too many size 50 clothes, but how many should I buy then?
Can I go wild with size 56, or do babies grow out of it quickly too?
And what about the type of clothes—should I really focus on summer clothes, or should I also get some long-sleeved ones?

Thank you very much!

Greetings,
Tamara

Hard to give a definite answer, it's May so it can already be quite warm but doesn't have to be. I'd go for short-sleeved rompers but also bring along some long-sleeved tops and shirts. Or buy them at the last minute... As for the size, it really depends on your baby. My baby was big and outgrew size 56 quickly, and even size 62 went fast haha, but when my daughter was already crawling around in size 74/80, my colleague's daughter still wore size 62/68 and was the same age. You'll figure it out naturally Just pick out some yourself.

Start with 4 to 5 sets in sizes 50 and 56. If you end up with a bigger baby at birth who fits straight into 56, you can easily order extra clothes online and have them delivered to your home. With 4 or 5 sets, there's usually always something clean anyway.

So you don't need to worry about having to go out in the first week.

It depends a bit on how quickly your little one grows, but mine outgrew size 56 in one month and size 62 two months later. During the first year, I always bought new clothes one size bigger than what they were wearing at the time, so I'd have them ready when they outgrew the current size.

They do grow a bit slower as the clothing sizes get bigger, so having a larger stash of clothes can be handy since you won't have to wash as often. For the smaller sizes, I wouldn't do that personally—before you know it, they've outgrown them without ever having worn them.

Not too much is indeed the best advice. Also, I found the tip about preferring snap-crotch onesies over things that need to go over the head very helpful, even if they're still so tiny and fragile.

Don't fixate too much on the size according to the midwife. At the growth scan they said our girl would be quite big, and when I asked three days before the birth if they still thought so, they said yes, definitely 4 kilos. In the end, she was only 3030 grams.
