Luca - pronunciation

Hi!
We're really struggling with the name for our future son. We both think Luca is beautiful, but I'm mainly afraid people will think it's a girl's name.
What do you think sounds more like a boy's name? Luca pronounced as "Loke" or Luca with a "U" sound?

@Femke1993 yes, I had that feeling too. (It's also closer to Lucas) but my husband claims it's more for girls, and Luca (Loeka) is more for boys

Our daughter is named Luca ????????.. My husband also thought Lucas for boys and Luca for girls. We also pronounce it as luukaa. We think this name is cool because it works really well for both boys and girls!

I know both a boy and a girl who are called that and we pronounce them both as Luuka. I think it's a nice and cool name, so it works for both!

In love with this name! It's probably going to be ours too if we have a boy
We'll probably spell it Louca or Louka

Luca is beautiful! I know it as a boy's name.
Don't use it if it comes to that. Our nephew is named Luuk. I think that's too similar.

Oh, thanks for the replies! That puts me at ease knowing it can be for a boy!

Nobody actually spells it Loeka... that's more like Jeijden instead of Jayden or something like that.

Anonymous, there are plenty of people with that name, you know.. it's usually pronounced as Loeka but just spelled differently

I know a lot of guys who are called Luca, so Luu Ka, hence the name.

Doesn't matter... everyone chooses what looks best to them, including the spelling. But good that there's a difference, otherwise the classes would be full of kids with the same name We used to have 3 kids in our class with the same name, but spelled differently, so yeah
