Tips to get pregnant

Hi everyone! And first of all, happy new year to all!
My partner and I have been trying to get pregnant for about 6 months now. But unfortunately, it's not working yet. Do you have any tips? I track an app, but my cycles are very irregular. I tried once with an ovulation test. It went well, but I still wasn't pregnant. I don't want to focus too much on it. But well, I do need to know when my fertile days are with an irregular cycle . I'm feeling very desperate. And I hope 2019 brings a miracle for us.

I started tracking my temperature myself back in September because I wanted to know if I was ovulating at all, since I had very irregular cycles. Over the last 4 cycles (since I started tracking), it’s been fairly stable (30/34 days). You can’t really see your ovulation coming, but you do get a better idea of your cycle and can see when you’ve ovulated, and therefore when to expect your period. I’d also just say to have plenty of sex around your fertile window until you can see from your temperature that you’ve ovulated.

Thanks for the tip! I still have some ovulation tests left, so I'll just use them up for now.

I also did both for 1 month, tracking temperatures and ovulation tests, just to see for myself exactly how it works. When the ovulation test is positive, what’s the temperature then, and how long does it take for the temperature to rise?

If you have an irregular cycle, it's best to use ovulation tests or track your temperature, indeed. Those apps predict your egg based on the average of your cycles and are often way off. Even with a regular cycle, they sometimes don't hit the mark. I also had an irregular cycle and got pregnant with the help of ovulation tests. It's also normal that it takes a bit longer with an irregular cycle, so no need to worry about that yet. Try not to lose hope (easier said than done), but 6 months is really still quite reasonable.

I used maca alongside ovulation tests. I got pregnant on the second of six cycles where I used maca. The first time ended in an early miscarriage, but the second time everything went well. I don't know if the maca helped. To me, it feels like it did. During the last cycle where I got pregnant (and stayed pregnant), I also used CoQ10. A friend of mine took the same pills and got pregnant on her first try. I don't know if the pills helped either.

As for what others say, try not to lose hope. Everything within a year is very normal; sometimes it unfortunately takes a little longer...

We're in round 6 now too! And yeah, even though girls who've been trying longer are still trying, it does make me feel a bit insecure too!

My tips that I try to follow as best as I can, even though they haven't resulted in a positive test yet, are:

Folic acid (not to get pregnant, but for when it does happen)
Floapp: I fill in my data daily. And it helps me find my fertile period.
Ovulation tests from Action: the downside for me is that a line does appear, but it's not dark enough.
And during my fertile period, we try to sleep together every day. (It's not always feasible, but we're trying anyway)
Wishing you lots of luck and hopefully we can get pregnant together this year

Definitely don't rely on an app if your cycle is irregular (I wouldn't do it either). They might give you an indication, which might be correct. But then you really need to have a very regular cycle.

I think if you've only used test strips once, you shouldn't despair yet. If you can find your surge, you at least have a chance to have intercourse around that time. Just a good way to find your surge with an irregular cycle.

The chance of pregnancy is not that big anyway, 10-20% assuming you're somewhere between 20 and 35. So you don't just get pregnant if you have intercourse around ovulation. Now you've found your ovulation once, so keep testing and see when you have the next one.

You can certainly use an app (or diary) to keep track of your cycle length. You can also track temperatures. If you keep track of everything, you might get help faster after a year if you go to the doctor. Because otherwise you'd have to keep track of temperatures etc. for a few months before you can move forward.

We got pregnant after the 3rd round. I'll list what I/we did.
I've been taking folic acid since August. We use Conceive Plus as a lubricant (supposedly good for the sperm), and my husband started taking folic acid too in the 2nd round. I also did ovulation tests.

    Good luck!
