What is this?

Hi everyone
I have a “problem”. Hopefully someone here can give me some advice. I’m a 25-year-old woman and I want to stop taking the pill after my current pack because my partner (who just turned 30) and I are trying to conceive. Lately, something strange has been happening and I don’t know what to make of it...
Even though I work in a pharmacy, I’m not very disciplined and often forget to take my pill. (Not cool, I know), I’m currently on a pack where I still have 4 pills left before my break week. But now, strange things are happening... for the past two weeks, I’ve been bleeding after every sexual encounter. Sometimes it’s a little, other times more. It’s reddish with brown discharge, but today, for example, it felt like my period (just for a short while). This morning after sex, I had very heavy bleeding (red, not brown, like a faucet running wide open, A LOT) and now the bleeding is almost gone, or at least significantly reduced. I NEVER normally bleed after sex. Also, for a few days now, my nipples (not my breasts, just the nipples) have been much more sensitive than usual. And another strange thing is that I’ve been having sharp cramps in my lower abdomen regularly since last weekend. I thought it might be a stomach bug, but I don’t have diarrhea or fever.

So, I’m taking the pill, but I sometimes forget it. I took a pregnancy test on Monday and it was negative, but is it still possible that I’m pregnant? Or does anyone have another logical explanation for these symptoms? Should I finish my current pill pack or should I just stop and let the withdrawal bleed come?

It doesn't sound like a pregnancy at all. I'd go to the GP for an examination, including a smear test. Abnormal smears can cause bleeding after sex.

It can have multiple causes. Maybe get a smear test done, as Anne above says. But just like you, I wasn't very consistent with taking the pill, and I often got spotting in between anyway, even though I took a break after every pack. Sensitive breasts etc. can be due to pregnancy, but can also be due to all the hormones fluctuating from pill use and forgetting to take it.. I would finish the pack and then see what the break week does.
One thing that just came to mind: I recently went to the GP myself because I had bleeding in between mixed with mucus in the third month after a miscarriage (different situation though). She thinks it's due to the changing hormone fluctuations after pregnancy and thus the miscarriage. She did say that if it was specifically after sex, she would want to do a smear test, but that wasn't the case for me.. If you're really unsure, I'd suggest talking to the GP for advice or waiting to see what happens next month without the pill and all the hormone mess.. But it's also possible that your body needs to find its rhythm again and can be off balance then.
