new year's eve

We pulled our kids, now three and seven, out of bed last year a quarter hour before midnight and put them back in at 0:30. Now I'm thinking about changing it: getting them up earlier and putting them in at the same time. Or maybe getting them up even later and putting them in later? I'm not sure. Or should I just keep it the same? We let our one-year-old sleep; they sleep through everything anyway.
How do you handle it with the kids during the New Year's Eve transition?

I hope my girls sleep well then, but they’re still little, 2 years old and the youngest is 9 months.

Mine hopefully stays in bed too She's also 2 years old.
My mother-in-law always had the policy with all her kids that if they wake up, they're allowed to get out, otherwise she just let them lie there. She doesn't wake anyone up. My husband has missed quite a few New Year's Eve celebrations in his youth.
My mother did always wake us up when we were around 7 or 8 years old, before that she just let us sleep. And later we were allowed to try to stay up. I often ended up sleeping on the couch at 10 PM ^-^
I always found it nice and cozy watching movies with everyone and then counting down to midnight.

First of all, best wishes to everyone. Hope it was a fun party for everyone.
Was curious how it went for everyone with the little ones last night. Did they sleep through the fireworks or were they awake?
My 2-year-old decided after her nap that she wasn't going back to sleep because of the bangs. We put her to bed at 7 but she didn't fall asleep and kept playing in her room. In the end, we brought her downstairs and she stayed awake until 1 AM without crying or being difficult. She enjoyed the fireworks show outside and then slept wonderfully. It was a big relief that she was cheerful the next day.
