Hi!
What do you think of the name Clovis?
I love it, but my boyfriend doesn't

Congratulations! Honestly, I don't think so either. Besides that, I'd choose a name that you both like. What do you think of Chris?

No, really not a beautiful name...
No idea if it's a boy's or girl's name either.
I'd go for Chloë or Ciske... just some random ideas.

Thanks for your honest opinion! It's a French boy's name, a variation on Lodewijk/Louis. If you google it, you'll only find male name bearers, so that shouldn't really raise much doubt.
And yes, I'd really like to choose a name that we both find beautiful, but I thought it was such a shame, so I wondered what an outsider's opinion would be.
I'm not really a fan of Dutch names, and he'll also have a French surname, so I'd prefer something French and uncommon.

Gotta say I thought it was a girl's name, a twist on Chloe. I find it less appealing that it ends in 'vis', how do you pronounce it? Regarding French names, I can't help you

That's lovely! Maybe another idea for Clover?
  6. Anne #7

Clover is also a girl's name, right? Or am I seeing that wrong?
  7. Nelleke #8

    Loïc maybe still nice?
Do you want a special French name?
Jules I also find very nice, for example.
    Or Maxim, Guillaume, Maurice
  8. Rose Guest #9

Oh oops... I thought Clovis was also a girl's name. Haha my mistake!
  9. Loes Guest #10

Loïc is indeed very beautiful! And maybe you like Thibault?
  10. Anoniem started this #11

Haha, that's super nice to know that so many people think it's a girl's name!
For me, it's definitely a boy's name, but if it causes so much confusion, that says enough—I don't want to put my child through that.
    Such a handy forum.
Loïc was also on the list, but it causes too much confusion with the pronunciation.
My second choice was Ference. A chic name and also nice to shorten to Fer.
I also think Jules and Thibault are beautiful names!

I think it works and is clearly for a boy!
  12. Nelleke #13

    Ferrand is another option
  13. Alexa Guest #14

    Yes, fun!
I find it quite obviously a boy's name..
  14. Loes Guest #15

By the way, for me it's also pretty clear that it's a boy's name. And it's not really my thing, but if it's your name, just go for it! It's not an ugly name, I just don't like it that much.

Thanks everyone! It probably won't be him, because my boyfriend isn't that enthusiastic.
  16. Anonymous Guest #17

Terrible, and I thought it was a girl's name.
  17. Anonymous Guest #18

I only know it as a boy's name. At least, I think there was a cartoon character (Simpsons?) with that name. But anyway.

    Maybe Romain?

Clovis was a king... Don't ask me exactly which one
