Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, after being pregnant for a while, I got my period again.. unfortunately this time it didn't work out.
The disappointment was so huge!!
To increase our chances now, I want to start using the ovulation test from Action. (I've read lots of good things)
Now I have no idea how to do this best, so I hope to find answers to my questions that will help us on our way to great happiness
- How many days after your last period should you start testing?
- I read that you shouldn't use morning urine, so when should you use it?
- Should you start trying right away after a positive test?
And who knows, there might be many more questions hahaha.

Best,
Angela

Hey! I also use the ovulation tests from Action.
Indeed, it's best not to use morning urine; I always did them around 12 PM.
When you should start testing depends on your cycle length
The Action ovulation tests give quite fast lines, so it's best to start testing when you see them getting darker. Your egg releases when the test line is even darker or darker than the control line.
Hopefully, I've been able to help you out a bit.

Normally I have a 28-day cycle. But my last one was anything but normal...
When I enter these days into various apps, they all say something different...
I'm a bit scared that it won't work this time either, because my last period threw my whole "schedule" off
Right now I'm really trying to find that right moment....

Hi Angela, I also use the ovulation tests from Action. If you have a 28-day cycle, I'd recommend starting to test from around day 10 just to be safe. I always do it in the evening when I get home from work. It's smart not to drink too much beforehand so that your urine is more concentrated. Once the test line is as dark or darker than the control line, you've found your LH peak, which means your ovulation is coming up (usually your egg is released within 20-48 hours after a positive test). It's also smart to have sex on the day of the positive test (then you're right before ovulation, and sperm can basically survive for a few days).

It can be smart to test twice a day once you see the tests starting to rise. Some girls have a short LH peak, so you could miss it if you only test once a day.

If you want to be absolutely sure that you've ovulated, you could also start tracking your temperature. But that's quite a hassle, so I can imagine you'd rather start with the ovulation tests first.

    Good luck!!

I never really get why people want to test twice a day. If you see the test line getting darker and then fading again, your peak was somewhere in between. Just test every day at the same time, keep your tests, and lay them side by side or tape them up. That way you can clearly see when your peak was. I used the tests this way when we were trying for our first. More important, though, is having enough sex. We did it every other day from day 10 to about day 20 (and the rest of the month whenever we felt like it). I mainly used the OPK tests for reassurance that something was indeed happening. By the way, my OPK test was always max on day 16 with a 26-day cycle, so later than 'normal'. It can help you get insight into your cycle and when to expect your egg, but in my opinion, having enough sex and sticking with it for long enough is the most important thing.

    Hi everyone,
thanks so much for the replies
Puck, do you mean 10 days after your last period?
We know we need to be "patient," but oh, that's so hard!!
I'll keep you posted, and of course, your tips are still very welcome!!!

    Hi everyone,

I couldn't find the test at Action... so I got it at Kruidvat now.
    It's 7 tests.
Only because of my irregular cycle, I still have no idea when I should start.
I can't calculate the likely fertile period using the calendar because my cycle is 28, 40, or 32 days....
Who else has this and tested well with ovulation?
  7. LoesJ #8

@Angela5992, if your cycle is irregular, I'd assume the shortest one. If it's 28 days, I'd start testing around day 12. Of course, you might have to keep testing for a while if your cycle turns out to be 40 days. So I wouldn't go for the expensive tests . Good luck!

which ones do you use that are affordable?

period started on 31-12-2018 (happy new year) so I should start testing on the 11th??

    Sensitest isn't expensive either.

Been testing for 4 days now, and today is day 2 with a faint line... As long as it keeps showing that, we're going to keep trying every other day, and just hope for the best!!
Since we're so focused on this, I find it pretty remarkable that people accidentally get pregnant... math is definitely not involved here, haha
  12. LoesJ #13

Haha, you're right @angela5992! When I was on the pill, I was already scared of getting pregnant if I forgot to take it just once Now I know that it (in general) doesn't happen that quickly!

Hopefully you'll get a positive ovulation test soon. Having sex every other day is definitely a good idea!

Ladies, I don't understand anything anymore... I've been testing for 4 days now, same result... a faint line.
Should my period still come or is something wrong?
  14. FiFi #15

Angela, keep testing until it goes up or down. This can sometimes take a while, so don't lose hope .
Do you have a picture of your tests?

    FiFi xx
  15. LoesJ #16

It's indeed normal to have a faint line each time. You always have a little LH in your urine. Once it starts to get darker, you know the peak is coming (the peak is when the line is even darker or as dark as the control line). And once you've found your peak, ovulation will follow within 24-48 hours
