Astrid naming

Hi,
Our first son has my dad's name as his second name and a 'young' name from my husband's grandma as his third. My husband really doesn't want a boy to have a girl's name, not even as a second name. (It's actually quite common, but he's not into it). It was pretty easy to turn his grandma's name into a boy's name, so that wasn't a problem.
We'd like to name our upcoming son after my father-in-law and my mom for his second and third names. But my mom is named Astrid... not so easy to make a boy's name out of that. We can't think of anything beyond Astrix and Aster. Any other ideas?

Aster is also a girl's name. Do all the letters have to be included? Can some letters be added or removed?

    A few ideas
    Astin (same meaning)
    Aston
    Drias
    Dries
    Adris/Adrie
    Sid
    Astor

    Congratulations
Indeed, it's tough. I did a quick Google search and the metronymic (so a surname based on a female name) for Astrid is 'Astridarson'. That means something like 'descended from Astrid'.
So maybe you could go for 'Darson'. I think it's a nice, strong name.
    Otherwise maybe:
    Art
    Astor
    Trid
Or one of your own options. Good luck!

    Asa maybe? It's very unisex.

    Tristan?

Thanks for the input! I think Darson is really cool, but for a naming tribute, I'd like to really see the name in you. Astin and Astor are beautiful ideas!

    Austin could also work.
