Breastfeeding and menstruation

Hi everyone,
I have a question for the mums who are breastfeeding. My son is going on 10 months and I’m still breastfeeding, but I haven’t had my period yet. Is this normal?
Would love to hear your thoughts

    Mona, yes, that's totally possible! I breastfed for the first 13.5 months, and my cycle only came back when I started weaning. I didn't ovulate again until 13 months.

    I'd say, lucky bums. I exclusively breastfeed and use the mini-pill. I was pregnant 11 weeks ago and have been menstruating for 3 days now. I guess it varies from woman to woman!

    Orchidea, then it could also be because you're using the mini-pill; you're simulating a cycle with that, so you get withdrawal bleeding. I haven't used hormonal contraception for all that time.
    But it's true, it varies from woman to woman and doesn't have to be the same after every pregnancy

    Hey ladies,
    So nice to not have a period and no discomfort! Not feeling good, grumpy, whatever you want to call it. Feeling stable now.
    Can't imagine having to deal with a period again soon, this is so lovely!!

    Yep, here too, after 9 months, still no period. Although I did have the feeling over the past 2 months that I might have ovulated or something, in terms of pain.

    It varies a lot from person to person. I myself had my period again within the first 3 months after giving full BV (breastfeeding) for over 6 months (oldest on a set routine, youngest on demand). No hormones were taken after that.

    My sister breastfeeds her son on demand and only got her period back 15-16 months after giving birth (she's still breastfeeding, and the little one is almost 19 months now)!

    I’ve gotten my period again after 9.5 months. I’m still breastfeeding.
