Jacob or Gijs

We're looking for a boy's name that goes well with Janna, our daughter. We like timeless names, so no trendy ones. Classic is good, and a bit of an old-fashioned Dutch name is okay too!

    Both are nice, but I think Gijs sounds the best next to Janna. Jacob and Janna have a bit too much "jut and jul" compared to Gijs.

    I think Jacob looks too much like Janna. Indeed, what about Jut and Jul?

    Guus, Sjors, Nils, Siem..
    Maybe consider some other options?

    Jacob is much prettier! But too much Jut and Jul next to Janna!
    Gijs isn't as pretty.

    With Gijs, I picture an old man with a gray beard. So yeah, I don't think it's really beautiful, but I'm one of the few, I think. If you like the name, I'd just go for Gijs. But personally, I think Jacob is better.

    I think Tibbe is a beautiful name too, but I agree with Madelene that Gijs doesn't appeal to everyone. It sometimes sounds a bit old-fashioned. If you're unsure, say both out loud. Which one sounds the best to you? Personally, I'd go with Tibbe; it has more punch.
