How long to try before getting pregnant

Hi everyone!

My partner and I have been trying to conceive our first baby since June. I have a very regular 27-day cycle.

So far, no positive test. Should I already be worried?

Since I stopped the pill, I've gained a bit of weight. This worries me, although my doctor says I'm not alone in this. Anyone else with this issue?

    Hi there!
It took 7 months to get pregnant with our daughter. It feels like an eternity when you're in it, but it's completely normal. I'm rooting for you!

Hey Klaartje, I've also been trying for a second baby since June and have actually conceived since then! This makes me feel more insecure too, and I don't feel very comfortable in my own skin. I've started going to the gym 2-3 times a week though. Hope it helps!

For me, it took 1.5 years. Now I have a little boy who's almost 9 months old. It takes a bit of time. Good luck, ladies. I hope you'll get positive tests soon.

Hope it works out for you soon
I understand you want to get pregnant as soon as possible. Of course, everyone would love to get pregnant in the first month
Every body is different, but give your body time to adjust to stopping contraception
We stopped the pill on October 1, 2016, so over 2 years ago and still haven't had a positive test. We've been under treatment at the hospital for a while now, but unfortunately, that also takes a lot of time

    Hi Klaartje,

I absolutely don't think you need to worry, especially with such a regular cycle. To get a bit more insight, you could use ovulation tests and/or temperature tracking, but then you'd be constantly on it, and the question is whether you feel like doing that (often the advice is to be as little 'involved' as possible, but yeah, that's easier said than done..). Good luck, I hope you get pregnant soon!

Hey, I stopped the pill in August and have gained quite a bit of weight since then (definitely 5kg). So you're not alone. Don't worry too much yet since you haven't had a positive test. In a book I was reading, they say to give yourself a year before asking any questions. Seems like a long time, I know, but I'm already in round 3, I'm also waiting for a positive test Good luck!!

We’ve already tried ovulation tests, but unfortunately, nothing happened then either. Last cycle, we went without tests, and still nothing. So I think I’ll try using ovulation tests again—you’re just so sure you’re doing it at the right time

That's awful about the weight gain. At some points in my cycle, I weigh 6 kilos more, and then a few weeks later I'm 3 kilos lighter without doing anything... It's all so bizarre...
    Good luck with round 3!

    Hi Klaartje!
You don't need to worry just yet, especially since you've been on the pill. I think maybe after a year you could go to the doctor. Although I totally understand that you're feeling unsure and starting to worry.
I got lucky and got pregnant in the first round with my first baby. But it could just as well take much longer for the second one!
You do have a nice regular cycle : that was also the case for me. Try having sex every other day starting from the last day of your period hehe. And really until around day 20, better too often than too little... right? If it's possible naturally.
My husband and I both enjoy sex, so we ended up having sex every day, which led to pregnancy. Now that I'm pregnant, I don't want to know anything about it
I hope you'll soon be blessed with a full-term pregnancy Xx

And about gaining weight... I gained a lot when I was on the pill. After that, it never went away. I currently even have overweight. I am 1.62m and weigh 80kg... really way too much, especially with a pregnancy. I weighed 86kg at the start of my pregnancy but lost 6 kg due to nausea and vomiting..
    Xx..
